|I loved Jabba by Andrea and loved the Pac Man by Thorax but...
I vote for Stowe's Gnome office.
Great to see all of the people there today. Must have been the ice cream.
by ALT on 4/23/2010 @ 3:17pm
|Trying to squeeze Jaba's expansive girth into the camera's viewfinder is a very difficult thing to do, so I broke him down. |
Alternate ending for last week's poll results: Jaba the Alien and Gatsby thing have won the coveted prize of Princess Leia.
Stowe thought Jaba was himself :D (I should have gotten a closeup of the fedora he's clutching).
by NineInchNachos on 4/23/2010 @ 3:28pm
|love the gnome as Jaba's monkey lizard thing|
by ALT on 4/23/2010 @ 3:30pm
|There were some insanely good entries this week (big surprise...sarcasm). I love the hell out of Stowe's Gnome Office, and the water dripping down the stairs is damn clever. Great likenesses in Adam's Tokens tribute. |
Hmmm. I'm going to have to think on this. I love Stowe's entry, but I also love ice cream.
Cheesecake ice cream. Sweet.

Vote for Stowe
by Leischen on 4/23/2010 @ 4:14pm
|Incredible work today everyone! Stellar drawings all the way around.
But on whimsy value alone I have to vote Thorax.
by NineInchNachos on 4/23/2010 @ 4:28pm
|FIE! I'm not voting till I upload my photos.|

It's also embedded in the above blog, now.
Working on this week's video, now, should have it up later tonight.

|Drove by just 10 minutes ago and the gnome office jumped out at me. It looked so good! I vote for Stowe's gnome office.|
by Erik Hanberg on 4/23/2010 @ 6:13pm
|Also, I'm going to get all spur of the moment here, but I'd like to offer a prize for the 4/30/10 Chalk Off (next week).|
Prize: Dinner for 2 at City Club's May 5th Dinner. The program for the night is a panel on the arts in Tacoma. Panelists are artists Matt and Laura Eklund, Elise Richman from UPS, and David Fischer of the Broadway Center.
I would be honored to have the 4/30 winning chalk artist as my guest.

|I really love Andrea's Jaba and Stowe's Gnome office. Its head to head for me. Hmmm. Must think this over for a while.
I saw you guys out there today and I so wanted to stop and hug everyone because its makes me so happy to see you guys out there again! Especially since I live so close by this year! But today I was late for a meeting so I had to keep walking. I'm hoping to come next week though and maybe bring some talent with me. We'll see! :)

|Do you know what the best thing about being a Seabury Kid is? The middle school is located in the Knights of Pythias building.|
by demgal88 on 4/23/2010 @ 7:07pm
|I like the Gnome Office and Jabba is slitheringly awesome. I love Waygoose and imagine that they will have a big crowd but Ariel's seahorse is quite striking so she gets my vote.|
by Sarah on 4/23/2010 @ 7:13pm
|I really love Thorax's Pac Man, but for my husband, I vote for Andrea's Jaba. Too cool for school.|
by NineInchNachos on 4/23/2010 @ 7:22pm
|I vote for stowe's masterful execution of a gnome house using the structure of the garden bed. I vote for the (twist) doorbell, the round stonework of the door... stowe is the Thomas Kinkade of chalk|
by NineInchNachos on 4/23/2010 @ 7:24pm
|cool Prize offer, thanks Erik Hanberf!|

|I vote for Ice Cream Man VS Land Shark (and Orca)
But really, that's a great photo RxR.
I cast my VOTE for Stowe's hobbit hole of an office. Witty, well executed, and just apropos.
by Adam the Alien on 4/23/2010 @ 8:21pm
|I honestly haven't been able to decide who to vote for...I shall contemplate over dinner. Hopefully, I'll have my vote ready by midnight. Video's somewhere between two-thirds and three-fourths done at the moment.|
by crockawaddy on 4/23/2010 @ 8:44pm
|Wow! Quite a crowd of artists and observers today - and a good variety of chalking.
I love Andrea's Star Wars homage, but have to give my vote to Stowe's Gnome office.
by livin4hymn on 4/23/2010 @ 8:47pm
|First time voting, though I've known about this for a while from Adam the Alien.
And even though I like Adam's entries every week, I think my VOTE this time goes to Stowe's Gnome Office.
by debivans on 4/23/2010 @ 9:21pm
|Jabba or Gnome? I can't decide. Both show mad chalk skills. Sci-fi vs fantasy. Let me get out my 20 sided die. (roll) 18 for the Hut (roll) and a 15 for the Office. So close-My VOTE goes to Andrea's Jabba!|
by NineInchNachos on 4/23/2010 @ 9:24pm
|never thought of using a 20 sided die... what a great idea.
if anyone needs a superior dice application for their iPhone I suggest my coworker's creation called pip

Very cool Erik!
I vote for the Gnome office. Great use of the park...
by pietogo on 4/23/2010 @ 9:49pm
|I TOTALLY am voting for RxR's rendition of the Beautiful Angle guys :)
Nice work RR!
by KevinFreitas on 4/23/2010 @ 10:03pm
|Fantastic work by all! Love Thorax's Pac Man but am happy he didn't extend the pellets further into the dangerous street. The Seabury kids had some great ideas like the water dripped down the waterless falls and the skyward facing face on the various steps of the fountain. I agree with Stowe about the Mario-esque charm of RR's BA likenesses. Mark's shameless self-promotion knows no bounds and Andrea's creation was as fierce as ever. Stowe's gnome shack was a stunning use of space and charm but this week my vote goes for Ariel's technique-rich (liquid chalk and masking) seahorse.|
Cheers and thanks for the offer of next week's prize Mr. Hanberg!
by itsbooyer on 4/23/2010 @ 11:01pm
|It's tough to vote when there are always a couple outstanding entries. Andrea's work is awesome and intense. Stowe's work always POPS.
I vote for Stowe's Park Gnome Office.
by L.S.Erhardt on 4/23/2010 @ 11:23pm
|I really like the Pac Man.
But this week I'ma go with voting for Andrea's Jabba. My inner Star Wars geek demands it.

|I vote for the Seabury Middle School Students collective.
I particularly like the first one in Kevin's sequence of pictures done by the students.
by Adam the Alien on 4/24/2010 @ 12:00am
|After stewing on it a while, as much as I love ALL of this week's pieces, and as close as some of them come, I'm going to have to agree with my dear Shannancy and VOTE for Ariel's Seahorse.|
by Adam the Alien on 4/24/2010 @ 12:01am
|Hm...my vote registered as Midnight on Feedtacoma's clock, but 11:59 on my own. :( My own clock switched just after I posted. Close enough?|
by KevinFreitas on 4/24/2010 @ 10:29am
|Alright, a late tally (including your 12am sharp one!) lines things up as follows:|
Stowe -- 12
Ariel -- 4
Andrea -- 2
Jon, RR, Seabury, and Thorax -- 1
Congrats on your ice cream win Stowe and to everyone for a great chalk off yesterday!

Trust me, the kids DO NOT know the secret signs or handshake, so don't even think about trying.
Great turnout. Great photos. I miss being there.
My name is Adam J. Manley, better known in some circles as Adam the Alien. I make pretty things for your eyes. To see, not to wear. I don’t make glasses. Wouldn’t it be awesome if I did, though? Then I wouldn’t have to pay insane prices for a new pair. And they’d be magic. That’s right, MAGIC. Impressed? Yeah, I thought so.
