Hit the Road Jack

It *is* possible to take your band on tour

I've always admired my fellow musicians who have taken their music on tour and I've always wondered how they did it. It seemed so complicated and expensive. I never asked them how to do it because it seemed like a trade secret that must be earned with time and lots and lots of networking.

Now I'm thrilled to be able to share with you a workshop that will teach
you everything you need to know to take your band on tour. I went to this
workshop in Seattle (it was sponsored by the Seattle Mayors Office of Film
and Music) and I was so impressed with the material that I asked the
organizers (Ruby Dee & the Snakehandlers) if they would come to Tacoma and
teach it here. I'm excited to tell you that they agreed!

This is a real honor because they will be traveling to Nashville soon to
do the same workshop on Saturday Sept 20th for the AMA conference with
Levon Helm, Joan Baez, John Hiatt and Jason and the Scorchers!!

Since I am currently organizing a music festival, it made sense to make
this workshop a part of it. (www.pointdefiancemusicfest.org)

The cost of the workshop is a mere $25 per band. It will take place on
Saturday September 6th.

---------  SPACE IS LIMITED!! -----------

If you would like to register, please email me at
pointdefiancemusicfest@live.com.

Your welcome!! *smile*

Touring Secret #342: When your body starts to revolt against the dollar fast food menus, or you are between towns, go to a grocery store deli and order 2 slices of lunchmeat, 1 slice of cheese, and then raid the free condiment rails for packets o' plenty. Buy one hard roll or bagel. Grab a piece of fruit to round it out. Meal for around $2 to $3.

If you make friends with the bartender she'll usually get the band some free food. If you make friends with the patrons they'll buy you drinks and invite you over to stay at their house. If the band has a cute girl singer you can get everything "comped."
