I love Third Thursdays

and First Thursdays and Second Thursdays and Fourth Thursdays and Fifth Thursdays ....

My apologies for this lapse in communication. You know I still love you, right? I've just been a little busy lately. I know what you're thinking. Everyone is busy but it only takes a few minutes to check in and say hello and you're right. But I have been doing that, haven't I? I've just been doing it on our other favorite communication place: Facebook.

Don't be mad. I just feel like when I write here I should really sit down and do a longer post with more details and over there I can just convey random thoughts, questions and ideas in 160 or so characters. Here, that feels like a cop out.

But here I am showing you some feedtacoma love. See? Lots of words are written below!

Here's a little window into my world: (sorry I didn't have a chance to wash it)

Speakeasy Arts Cooperative, a little pet project I dreamed up last summer, is alive and well on Broadway. We've had several really terrific parties there and the gallery has amazing art and handcrafted goods. We've got 17 members (every single one a spectacular genius) and 4 new applications to process. We're working on a goal to have at least 25 members before April so we have enough to pay the $2500 lease. The landlord gave us 6 months at a cheaper rate to help us get it going. April is the deadline. Will we make it? Signs point to yes!

We've been getting excellent community support and quite a bit of media support as well. I'm really grateful for all the people who believe in this idea and want Speakeasy to stick around for a long time.

You'll also find links to feature stories about us there too.

Speaking of websites, even though this isn't really my main focus, I've been asked to do a lot of them lately. Here's a few recent examples:

* Musician Jefrey Taylor:
* Smooth & Juicey:
* This is the Vixen House of Shoes website (in progress):
* This is the Vanity Boutique site (in progress):
* This is the Langata Rules site (in progress):

I've also been doing quite a few Social Networking consultations. A few organizations I'm involved with have asked me to do a workshop on it and I'm currently shopping for a computer lab classroom to do it in. I also want to cover selling on Etsy, Ebay and Amazon. Also how to best use Google groups and calendars for collaborative projects.

I'm also planning several events for Broadway Center for Performing Arts including a very special one at the Rialto Theater March 18th as a part of the Live Large campaign. For more information about that and to learn how you could turn $99 into $10k or more check this out:

This summer it looks like I'll be working with the Tacoma Event Commission on Tacoma's biggest festival: Freedom Fair. If all goes according to plan. I'll be producing a local section including local vendors, local music and a beverage garden of some kind.

As if that wasn't enough, I'm also making posters, logos and fliers for various clients and I just finished an online grant writing course.

I'm looking into starting a bus tour of Tacoma's Third Thursday Artwalk and joining the Tacoma Regional Convention and Tourism Bureau. I've been attending Shopgirl meetings, starting a book club, investigating the pro's and con's of becoming a non-profit organization, working out at least 3 times a week at Club Biella, planning and promoting events, taking care of a daughter who just had her tonsils out, managing Speakeasy, starting a weekly community potluck dinner every Thursday at Speakeasy and exercising my newly discovered self-discipline!

Oh, I also copy edited an entire book for a friend of mine.

So when I say busy, I think it falls under a whole different category then my usual garden variety busy - but boy is life so much more fulfilling now! Moving to downtown Tacoma was one of the smartest things I ever did.

I also have one more REALLY EXCITING project on the horizon which will be of particular interest to my FeedTacoma friends but I can't talk about it yet because I don't want to jinx it.

I seriously can't wait to tell you. Am I a tease or what?

Sorry, maybe next time.

Take care and I hope to see you Feb. 18th at 7 pm for the Speakeasy Arts Cooperative Grand Opening. :)

The Vixens House of Shoes site is cute. If you ever want to work together on some stuff, I'm available for CMS projects.

We should have lunch and discuss collaborations. I'm sure there is a lot we could help each other with.
