Spanish food, Latin music and sunshine

I really ought to be enjoying this

Yesterday was the first day of Latino Fest and I spent the day conversing on walkie-talkies to the other executive team members coordinating the festival. A behind the scenes look at a large scale festival is an interesting perspective I've never seen before. Over the walkies you hear about the OMG moments that the festival guests never know about (unless your walkie volume is up too high!).

Luckily the worst things that happened yesterday were just parking issues and one drunk guy falling down. But I must have walked 10 miles running around making sure my volunteers were doing ok and that they got replacements when they needed a break. We were shorthanded so this was like a game of chess. My feet and legs are so sore!

The food was AWESOME. The music was INCREDIBLE. The weather was cooperative -  although today is supposed to be warmer - and I'm heading down there to do the whole thing over again today. Anyone one care to join me? Yesterday I didn't see one person I knew (except my coworkers) even though it was a pretty big crowd. I think all my friends were at Hot Road a Rama. Which I will sadly miss again.

Maybe you did the hot rod thing yesterday and you'd like to see a tall ship from Columbia today instead?

One more thing:

Tall Ship Gloria and Festival Latino at Foss Waterway Seaport needs
volunteers today (anytime between noon and 9 pm) and Monday evening (3 pm to 9 pm). I'm Volunteer Coordinator. If you want to help out please come down (get there before 11 am today and you'll be able to park up close). Tell them at the gate that you are a volunteer and they'll direct you to me.

The address is 704 Dock Street, Tacoma.

Volunteers get a free Tall Ships shirt, baseball hat and fanny pack.
(You know you want that fanny pack!)

I meant Hotrod-A-Rama not Hot Road a Rama (though I'm guessing that's what it will be like today: hot pavement, hot chicks, hot guys, hot cars, hot bands - you get the idea)

I still don't know how to edit the blog once its posted. Can I go back to bed now? No wait, I have to go to work now. Well alright then.

if you go into your account, "view blog" there's editing there. I think. I could be wrong. or, if it's quickly, right after you post, there's a pencil and an x under your avatar, the pencil edits, too. (which is how I'm adding this,.) --hope to see you at the festival today, will try to go with the kid. Tempted as I am by the fanny pack, though, volunteerism's out, for me.,..

Wish I'd known about this sooner.

A suggestion for next year:

I notice it's not on the Feedtacoma calendar or the Tacomamama calendar. Both are open to all to contribute events.
