Maritime Festival Exhibit

for Maritime Festival this weekend)
We will be visiting the opening ceremony and salute to Tacoma's Maritime Fest, in its 22nd year, featuring four exhibits all inspired by the theme "Boats!"
1) Paintings and drawings by the Al Davies, Gonyea and Lakewood Branches of The Boys & Girls Clubs* created by kids from 6-18 yrs old.
2) Two dimensional collage artwork from the kids from The Multicultural Child and Family Hope Center.
3) KATE CENDEJAS, muralist, creates a painted boat and ship theme on a NW CONTAINER boxcar, with Tacoma kids helping her paint.
4) A sculpture show featuring the works of local professional artists: Laura Borak, Ric Hall, Victoria Johnson, Ann Meersman, Di Morgan-Graves, Eileen Newton/Juan LaTorre, Jennevieve Schlemmer, Holly A Senn, Carlos Taylor-Swanson, and Chris Wooten. Ten boats from two to three feet long: Eleven artists.

Owners and local artists April Sanders and Jenn English provide a patient, casual, and creative environment for the eclectic crew of Tacomans to get messy. Some offerings are; pottery classes, open studio (‘Free Spin’), and the option to sell your work in the SPUN Gallery. Think of it as the dive bar for artists, where you are comfortable going in any attire, any time of day, at any age. No judging, just a friendly and supportive atmosphere. During your tour, browse the SPUN gallery and spend a few minutes watching a live demo on the wheel! Have a drink with the girls and be sure to say hi to Mr. Belvedere (their pet fish)!

Moss + Mineral's Opening reception for “METAL & PAINT: New work by Jeremiah Maddock, Kyle Dillehay and Quinn Honan.” This show marks the long-awaited return of painter Jeremiah Maddock, who has been logging miles on the art scene from NYC to LA and Berlin. Plus, two different modes of environmental sculpture: Quinn Honan's functional table integrates live moss; and Kyle Dillehay's intricate bronze sculptures sprout living botanicals! Show runs through October 30. Attached photo: Enigmatic steelwork by Quinn Honan.

We went to this last time they did it and it was so great! The photos of Tacoma art fantastic! ART BUS is happy to be returning to visit Tacoma's favorite photo competition "Shoot The T" in their 2nd installment. Selections have been narrowed down to the top 50 and in-store voting begins tonight. The public is being asked to come down and vote for their favorite photos of Tacoma.
