What's Your Favorite New Tacoma Restaurant That We Tacomans Need To Support?

We're always interetested in supporting Tacoma Businesses (we are one!). We like to encourage local business owners (who often get a reputation for being stressed out) with what Tacomans are thinking. Of course, dollars spent are always encouraging, but a nice affirmation goes a long way.

My favorite old-school diner, Fergie's on the Ave., McKinley Hill. They need dinner business. Tell them "the crows" sent you.

(Not a new business, but a new owner that is working hard to make it work and remain a part of the community).

Yep, Jinx, there are lots of old-school restaurants and taverns that need to be visited, along with the new. People (including me) don't venture up McKinley enough (except to the excellent Top of Tacoma). I just heard someone who posts here say they never go up South Tacoma Way, either, and the Stonegate (to mention one) has been working hard on a good menu and supporting local, live music. And stop in the Jive for a Jungle Burger now and then. Of course the not-so-new-anymore friendly Villa Caffe has been carving a nice niche. I look forward to reading more responses to the question. There are new places I don't know about yet, and old ones I've forgotten about. Like the Vien Dong on 38th - It fell off my radar for a while until one night I got to Wendy's II too late and remebered them. Still haven't made it to Quickie Too.

I'll second Fergie's. Ask the owner about her life expirences and accomplishments and why. You will be amazaed.

I'll add Villa Cafe for new restaurant. ( Market Street )

Patty's Burgers on South Tacoma Way. The owners bought it from "Juicy Burger" last January and have really done a lot with a nondescript little space. Extremely nice people and very good prices, especially for breakfast.

Pho King.

Who couldn't love Pho King? Though they say their name is derived from MLK Way, it sure got some of us in the door to try the pho, ya?

It's great that a lot of these responses are praises for the vets in the city. Not that the Imbibery isn't a contender to be a vet one day. Hopefully they can track down more Cat Daddy!
