I am the owner of Euphemeral Designs @ The Modern Cottage Vintage Market and I am new to the Theater District. But my, what a wonderful place to work in!
There is a vitatlity and excitement in the neighborhood right now, and a growing feeling of yes, the recession has turned the tide. People are back, and they're spending money with cash in hand, if sales have been any indication these past few weeks.
I've heard through the grapevine for a few weeks that Dwell is moving into the neighborhood, right up the street and I couldn't be more pleased to see it confirmed by The News Tribune. welcome to the neighborhood, Dwell! And there are several other well-established businesses in other traditional shopping hubs (Proctor & 6th Ave) that are considering a similar move. I couldn't be more thrilled, this bodes well indeed for businesses in the area.
It is hard to describe the feeling to be a part of a community that is growing; there is a kind of hum or building crescendo under your feet when you walk down Opera Alley on the way to the Broadway Market on Thursdays. It is the sound of hundreds of people mingling, shopping, and sharing in that feeling of optimism.
Have you been into Millesime's Designs on Broadway?! They just unveiled their new look for the next two months and I am in love. Black, white, punches of yellow, just yummy.
Have you had the house salad and mushroom soup at Stink on St. Helens? Or the spot-on lattes at Amocat across the street? How about a mini gluten free cupcake at Cornia Barkery up 6th on Fawcett in their new (bigger) space?
The food alone is worth venturing out into this area, and I am SO glad I have a reason to do this (often).
Come stop by The Modern Cottage Vintage Market and check out the neighborhood. You'll be glad you did.

Oh, and do yourself a favor... try the crab bisque at Over the Moon. Prepare to be addicted.

|I live just up the street near Broadway and 4th and couldn't love this area of downtown more! It's amazing the quality of restaurants and shops I can walk to. Tacoma's a true gem I'm always proud to call home!|
Note too that Chopstix is moving from 6th to Pacific Ave which should be great for night life around there.
