Anyone know what happened to "The Muse?"
Locked up and emptied out
The Muse was an ambitious new coffeehouse on Sixth Avenue, with live music on the weekends and open mics on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This Thursday (yesterday), they were scheduled to have a concert with a couple of national touring acts. We showed up, only to find the place locked down and dark.
Today, I walked by and got a peek inside. Everything is gone ... sound system, seating, everything.
The website says it's "closed for maintenance ... come back again soon."
Anyone know anything? I was hoping to play there, doggone it! Tacoma has precious few paying venues for musicians. It was exciting to see one arrive and disappointing to see it disappear so quickly.

by izenmania on 12/12/2008 @ 10:02pm | Makes me wonder if maybe they got hit by inspectors. |
by JeepersJulie on 12/12/2008 @ 11:30pm | not again... |
by Dmitri on 12/13/2008 @ 9:30am | Most negative inspections give a list of things to fix. Complete abandonment of the premises within 24 hours in less typical, I would think.
Gone is what they are. |
by izenmania on 12/13/2008 @ 10:06pm | Well, it was mostly the "maintenance and cleaning" note that made me wonder about inspection. |

by jenyum on 12/30/2008 @ 8:43am | Doesn't look like it, everything was shut up tight when we drove by last night. I emailed one of the owners for comment and never heard back. |
