help convince the school board to record!

Tonight at 5pm, members of The Melon will be asking the Tacoma School Board to film their meetings and post them online.

The Melon has been filming most of their meetings as a public service but will be unable to do so in the future due to primarily time commitments.

The school board already has the funding, personnel and equipment necessary to do this, but have avoided filming their meetings for one reason or another.

Please, come help support a good and very acheivable cause by joining The Melon tonight to stand or voice your support for the filming of these meetings.

WHERE: School Board Meeting, fourth floor auditorium, Central Administration Building, 601 S. 8th St.

Kudos EE. Great cause for transparency.

Thanks for showing up everyone!!! It was a blast to really sock it to 'em.

If you can't follow my type this is sarcasm. Although there were no Feeders there Chris and I took down the house. The school board stated the same thing they did every other time, that they'd look into it at the end of the year, so who knows if they'll actually do it.

Footage should be up sometime next week. Bing!

When the bond initiative goes down to defeat maybe they'll wish they didn't postpone the decision. Thanks Eliot.

What defeat?

I hope they do start broadcasting the meetings.

ElectricElliot: Fighting The Man can be lonely. Thanks for taking down the house. We're here behind you.

Given the size of the Tacoma School District budget and the great interest in their actions, they should have started broadcasting the meeting years ago especially considering hot how the issues have been before the school board.

Plus, RR Anderson needs something to watch on Thursday nights.

I do think it would help their current campaign if they would make some kind of announcement that they intend to have an implementation schedule for broadcasting. The public wants transparency.

If the school board's wrong on this issue, as the discussion seems to indicate, maybe they're wrong on some other issues too.
