Cast Your Presidential Ballot Monday. It Still Matters
I just received my ballot in the mail.
Take a look at all the stuff inside. Its a puzzle of sorts.
Wow. What an array of different things.
Washington uses the caucus system for democrats so the vote for democrats doesn't matter right? That's what the media and political experts tell us.They would all be wrong. It does matter. Even though its technically a "beauty contest" the ballot vote will be reported by the media and still effect the viability of the candidates. The Washington delegates might consider the vote as well. Plus, it far more substantive than reading about each jab the candidates give each other.
It seems strange that there are no alternative parties and that the Auditor made pictures of the two dominant parties. The two animals make it look like a parody. It seems like such an endorement of the party system.
Totally blurred. Sorry. However, it does show how I am supposed to pledge myself to one of the parties to vote. Washington voters do not like this. A very litigated issue.
I've done it. I have place the ballot in the "secret envelope" and then into a larger one. It will go into Monday's mail.by Jake on 2/3/2008 @ 1:52am | The TNT endorsement is out Obama and McCain. |

Momentum seems to be going Obamas way as the Edwards folks seem to be supporting him as well. Clinton supports and Obama supports seem to be most different based on age. |

Each party has one. I think the Libertarians have a statute of liberty. |

Monday, February 04, 2008 WA may be big for Obama If the SurveyUSA poll is true, it's a huge difference: among Democrats who say they will caucus, Obama has a 22 point lead over Clinton. This might be telling for other races tomorrow ... here's hopin'. From the Slog. |
by urbanX on 2/5/2008 @ 2:53am | Am I the only one who finds it creepy and weird that I have to sign an oath to a certain party in order to have the right to vote? What if I don't have an allegiance to a party but more to an individual who is running? I know people have been Democrates and then changed to Republican and vice-versa, what then? They have to break some dumb oath they never should have signed in the first place? I think it's really strange and just encourages bipartisanship. I think it also is a way for party officials to excercise control over the outcome of the elections and who represents their party.
For example: Ron Paul has been coming in second and third in states and no media mentions it anywhere...When he came in second in Louisiana a lot of it was due to last minute manipulations of the caucus there by the Republican party. No mention of this on main stream media. hmmmm.? |

No, that's why the case was litigated for a number of years. However, it was decided that parties get to decide who gets nominated. However, for the general election, you need not pledge to a party. |
by Erik on 2/6/2008 @ 9:07am | With the democratic candidates nearly tied after super Tuesday, now voting is really going to matter.
CNN's overall count showed Clinton leading at this point in delegates with 823 to Obama's 731. They'll need 2,025 to secure their party's nomination. Also, Obama is coming to Seattle: Obama's campaign announced Tuesday evening that he will make a campaign appearance Friday in Seattle. Clinton also is expected to make a stop here. And her top campaign surrogate, former President Bill Clinton, is scheduled to appear Thursday night in Seattle and Friday morning in Tacoma. |
