by Erik on 9/17/2009 @ 10:03pm | Sorry I can't be there today. Hopefully, there will be plenty of photographers though. |
by Thorax O'Tool on 9/18/2009 @ 6:52am | Camera = charging.
Awesome = brewing. See ya there! |
by Thorax O'Tool on 9/18/2009 @ 6:53am | That mash-up image is singly the most radical thing I have ever seen! |
by NineInchNachos on 9/18/2009 @ 8:00am | Got a photo of Brian chalking away this morning. Was able to hand him his haunted tap+die set prize from couple weeks back. I have Thorax's Mark Monlux Wife hat prize, too.
should be a good chalk day. |
by Mark Monlux on 9/18/2009 @ 9:34am | I have a deadline I'm working on today and might not be able to attend. In case I don't show up, the rest of you carry on and have fun without me. I insist. |
by Erik on 9/18/2009 @ 10:04am | Got a photo of Brian chalking away this morning. We might have to consider "bending the rulz" one day for chalkers who chalk before noon and leave their artwork there for others to see later. That mash-up image is singly the most radical thing I have ever seen! Yeah. Great work. A classic. |
by Adam the Alien on 9/18/2009 @ 10:58am | We might have to consider "bending the rulz" one day for chalkers who chalk before noon and leave their artwork there for others to see later. The precedent already exists, actually. As of last year: we've done it for Lance, who has, in the past, had to leave early or as people are just arriving, but showed up early and chalked. |
by Erik on 9/18/2009 @ 11:24am | The precedent already exists, actually. As of last year: we've done it for Lance, who has, in the past, had to leave early or as people are just arriving, but showed up early and chalked.
There you go. |
by Thorax O'Tool on 9/18/2009 @ 11:36am | I say that to make a pre-chalking chalking legal, we need two photos from the pre-chalker. One photo with like their watch or cell phone against the blank cement to show starting time and a second one of said time-keeping devices against the finished piece, to confirm the 60 minute limit has not been massively overshot. |
by NineInchNachos on 9/18/2009 @ 1:08pm | A few new folks. I'll be posting my photos later tonight. Excited to show off the topless mermaid. |
by Mark Monlux on 9/18/2009 @ 1:33pm | I say we need to enforce the rules that we have. Otherwise the Chalk Challenge becomes the Let's Go Chalk With Barnie Because Everyone Gets A Prize Show. As I see it the rules are: 1. The event starts at noon. 2. The events ends at noon. 3. What you can get accomplished in the 60 minutes is what is voted on. 4. You need to have an Avitar on Feed Tacoma to vote. 5. You need to state clearly "I vote for ______." in your post. 6. Posting must occur before Midnight. 7. In the event of a tie, the sponsor decides. 8. The medium of choice is chalk (and the occasional glitter). In short it has to wash away with rain, not constitute a hazard, not stain or cause damage. Some might say glitter does all those things but that I think can be debated. Now here are few recommended thing to do: a. Bring chalk b. Bring kneepads. Honestly people your killing your knees. c. Bring gloves. Many of bloody fingernail has been scraped in the name of art. d.Set your alarm clock. Don't complain to everyone that you when you forgot, overslept, missed the bus, or got there with only five minutes left to work. You're not ten anymore and are perfectly capable of getting yourself to places on time. So, for the love of mike remember to set your clock. You know who you are people, Adam. e. Bring a spray bottle to mist overly dry surfaces or to bind your chalk to sidewalk on windy days. f. Mention your wife. Sure, nobody has at Frost Park has ever seen her. But, that's not your problem. She exists. She loves you. She thinks your the cat's meow and consoles you when everybody is voting for the unicorn farting rainbows because they think its 'cute'. She's not just a figment of your imagination. Honest. And 'no' I'm not cranky because I missed all the fun today. |
by NineInchNachos on 9/18/2009 @ 1:41pm | somebody write that down! Mark Monlux FTW! |
![]() by Zanna on 9/18/2009 @ 2:05pm | Did anyone notice? 1. The event starts at noon. 2. The events ends at noon 3. What you can get accomplished in the 60 minutes is what is voted on. The 2nd point should be 1pm :) |
by Erik on 9/18/2009 @ 2:09pm | Nice work on the evolving rulz Monlux.
|
by Thorax O'Tool on 9/18/2009 @ 2:48pm | Click on the image to see a bigger version! Brian: ![]() Unknown (to me) ![]() Stowe ![]() Adam the Alien ![]() Thorax O'Tool ![]() ![]() In true, predictable fashion, I vote for myself. |
by Erik on 9/18/2009 @ 2:49pm | Interesting. However, Stowe's entry does not show up. I believe this is Stowe's entry if I found the right code: ![]() |
by daydreamer on 9/18/2009 @ 2:56pm | I vote for Thorax. The butterflies are nice...Springtime in feel. |
by Thorax O'Tool on 9/18/2009 @ 3:04pm | ![]() |
![]() by Zanna on 9/18/2009 @ 3:13pm | I want to paint butterflies like that on my wall - Maybe I can add it to my "honey-to-do list" I still have to vote for for Thorax though, (where's is the water?) |
by AnagramPress on 9/18/2009 @ 4:58pm | Umm....dumb question...how do you post photos here? I've got one of my chalk drawing, and thought I'd share. (Mah first Chalk Challenge, Pa!) |
by KevinFreitas on 9/18/2009 @ 5:34pm | I vote Stowe! Glad to see him
back even though I couldn't make it. @anagram: easiest way for now is to upload your pic to Flickr or somewhere then copy the share/embed code they give you into these comment boxes. Soon I shall re-enable inserting photos straight from here. Stay tuned.... |
by AnagramPress on 9/18/2009 @ 5:45pm | Okay, let's try it (I'm intertubes-challenged, so bear with me):![]() For your consideration: the Luzon's Ascension (the end is nigh) |
by Crenshaw Sepulveda on 9/18/2009 @ 6:11pm | I vote for the AnagramPress Luzon's Ascension. I really want that on a poster. |
by NineInchNachos on 9/18/2009 @ 7:42pm |

Brian's advertisement. (he was working on this baby at 7:45 am!) |
by Mark Monlux on 9/18/2009 @ 7:45pm | I vote for the Butterflies. And pardon my typo on #2. I meant to say 1:00 not noon. Oopsie. |
by NineInchNachos on 9/18/2009 @ 8:02pm | with respect to voting we should also mention that - people can change their votes too up till midnight. - calling upon friends and family to vote for you as a "voting zombie army" block is perfectly OK. - you can try and sabotage other people's chalk entries with harsh art critiques in the comment thread. |
by Erik on 9/18/2009 @ 8:09pm | I vote for Stowe's butterflies. |
by jamesstoweart on 9/18/2009 @ 8:09pm | Wow, I have to vote for Anagram Press.
That is beautiful. Also, it felt real good to be back. It was a great day for chalking butterflies with my wife and daughter. |
by NineInchNachos on 9/18/2009 @ 8:12pm | Thorax (aka Larry) looks pretty stylin' in Mark Monlux Wife's enchanted cap. |
by AngelaJossy on 9/18/2009 @ 8:33pm | I vote for Anagram Press and the ode to the Luxon. What a shame no one can save that old gem. |
by Girl Who <3 JUNK on 9/18/2009 @ 8:41pm | I VOTE for Anagram Press. FAB work! |
by kathy on 9/18/2009 @ 8:49pm | I vote Anagram Press.
(Loved your butterflies too Stowe!) |
by itsbooyer on 9/18/2009 @ 9:09pm | Gotta be Anagram. Great job everyone :) |
by jenyum on 9/18/2009 @ 9:10pm | I vote for Anagram Press although Stowe totally had my vote until I saw their entry. |
by Bjr on 9/18/2009 @ 9:13pm | Tough choice today I vote for Anagram Press . I will take myself out of the comp today I went over the time limit today . I like the thought of the rules being tweaked a little bit . I,m just here to chalk and draw for my friends and family and my boss too . Im thankfulll to have my job back. Just getting my Ideas out of my head on the sidewalk and walls online makes me wish there was more fridays.I got more planed out weeks to come . Yes I will be around drawing at odd times drawing atnight is the best untill you cant see what colors you are using. Im good with the one hour deal . Maybe sometime have extended chalk off . Untill that day just keep on chalk -n Thats my 3 cents Brian |
by kiru13 on 9/18/2009 @ 9:16pm | I vote adam the alien, but I think the others are good, too :)! |
by Erik Hanberg on 9/18/2009 @ 9:17pm | I'd like to cast my vote for Arrange Spasm.
Wait, no, for Manager Spars. ... Pagans Rearms? |
by ixia on 9/18/2009 @ 9:20pm | Anagram Press has my vote. Just like Crenshaw said: I'd want that on a poster! I must say RR's Russell Building looks mighty fine next to the space needle. Perhaps they can take it along when they head out! |
by crockawaddy on 9/18/2009 @ 9:30pm | But, I liked the concept of the chalk-off happening in the infinite space between the first and last click of noon -or maybe ending tomorrow at noon. Either way would produce some interesting art.
I vote for the alien that is an adam only so he might explain WTF he was drawing.... |
by Thorax O'Tool on 9/18/2009 @ 9:34pm | Interesting thought... I propose a FPCO special edition where we show up on like a Saturday at like 11 and chalk until we fill the entire sidewalk... no time limit. Imagine what we could produce! |
by Bjr on 9/18/2009 @ 10:16pm | I second that too Thorax I will chalk till there is no chalk or sidewalk to chalk or till fingers bleed chalk just run out of sidewalk I will chalk 9th street put in a chalk lane . Brian |
by Thorax O'Tool on 9/18/2009 @ 10:22pm | DUDE! A chalk lane! That is a fsking sweet idea! |
by demgal88 on 9/18/2009 @ 10:24pm | This week I am in morning for the Luzon. Having to choose between RR and Anagram Press's I will go with Anagram Press. Still and all- props to the artist who made the mermaid! |
by Bjr on 9/18/2009 @ 10:30pm | Just think what we could do sinkholes fix trafic road signs dip ahead damm I never rest now . Brian |
by petite nenette on 9/18/2009 @ 10:48pm | I vote for Anagram Press (and Erik Hanberg, your witty wordplay was wondrous, lol)...what a debut!
Farewell, sweet slightly-leaning Luzon: your lonesome loveliness shall be sorely missed... Stowe's flutterbys were a smiling moment as well, loved the movement there! So much talent and such big hearts in this group; you make me glad that I moved back to the town of the T. |
![]() by TacomaGnome on 9/18/2009 @ 11:07pm | I vote for amagram press.
A fitting tribut to the building that greeted 13 thousands upon 13 thousands of traveler as they arrived on the Greyhound bus. Good work. |
by KevinFreitas on 9/19/2009 @ 8:32am | Here is the count for this week...
Anagram: 13 Thorax: 3 Stowe: 3 Adam: 2 Congrats to AnagramPress for their debut and win! |
by Erik on 9/19/2009 @ 9:21am | Congratulations Anagram for a great angelic piece. |
by AnagramPress on 9/19/2009 @ 9:58am | Thanks, everybody! Here's to chalkin' the potholes. |
