Exquiste Apple Dumplings Set Hub Breakfast Apart
The Hub Now Offering Breakfast on Weekends
Here's the breakfast spread I ordered at The Hub last weekend. Very impressive.

Your regular bar breakfast fare? Hardly. Chef Carole Holder designed the breakfast and much of the menu at The Hub and has put together a great combination of food there. Yogurt and granola at the top right.
All of the breakfast classics but with far better ingredients, taste and layout than one usually receives. Suffice to say the food tasted as good as it looks.

Ample Dumplings Find a Home in Tacoma
Years ago, Carole was the chef for the Daisy Cafe in the building where Rosewood Cafe is located now.
I don't usually eat pastries a lot as I find them too sweet.
But the apple dumplings were so good, they would be sold out shortly everyday.
Since Daisy Cafe closed years ago, I have never had a pastry that approached the dumplings.
I begged Carole to bring the Ample Dumplings back to The Hub. After using some persuasion, she agreed. Here's a couple of shots of them:

Its like Daisy Cafe never closed. The dumplings have just enough sweetness and are loaded with fruit. They have none of the sugary goo one often finds in pastries. The crust is nice and flaky lightly sweetened. They are are just as I remember them.
I have been there twice now and will have difficult time trying to choke down the typical greasy breakfast food diner fare on often finds in Tacoma. Prices are very reasonable.
Try one of the Apple Dumplings this weekend and let me know what you think.

Happy hour is extended all day on Sunday. Their over baked pizzas are $5.00, the best deal in town. Also, Tacoma Mamma Reviews The Hub www.tacomamama.com/article.php?story=200... |

We will be there soon. Wish I could try the dumplings. |
by Heather on 9/2/2008 @ 10:31am | oh, yum. Can't wait to try the Hub for breakfast!
I may need to nag them to get rid of that slice of orange from thousands of miles away though. Maybe they can replace it with a slice of organic peach or apple from a local farm. |

Your a great advocate for Farmers Market Heather. |
by Jake on 9/2/2008 @ 11:59am | They should serve breafast a bit later maybe until noon. That is a neighborhood full of young people and young people stay up late on weekends and like to sleep in in the morning. PSP is usually really busy between 11 and noon (sometimes even until 1pm). Just a suggestion. |
by Crenshaw Sepulveda on 9/2/2008 @ 1:23pm | I'm with you on the orange slice, Heather, and maybe do away with the honey in a plastic packet and opt for some of our very nice fresh local honey. Support your local bees. |
by intacoma on 9/2/2008 @ 4:54pm | the prices suck at the farmers market thats my deal, I usually get produce way cheaper at the store, I'm all about supporting local but come on your not shipping your product that far away give us a price break if its local |

by alwayssancerre on 9/3/2008 @ 9:06am | The breakfast pizzas need more flavor. Lose the pepper jack for something less processed.
The mimosa was yummy and our server was delightful. |

I think I am going to grab a apple dumpling for Sunday breakfast. I went a whole week without one. |
