*Found Art* At Tacoma Condo Tour

Sunday is slow day for the Tacoma blogosphere.

Yet, I did find something sort of interesting yesterday worth reporting on.

Found Art:

A close up:

The object is used as a hub in the middle of turn around circle for cars.  The area is still under construction.

Commentary

Beats a "water feature" one usually sees at this location.

Is it spinning? Is it an oversized push light thing?
I think I would take a water feature.

Close RR. The stainless steel object IS THE UFO..

Actually, the Esplanade gets pretty high marks for overall urban design.

They are yours.

I still don't understand why that large 1 story section fronting Dock Street doesn't have some sort of garden area or patio on the roof. From what I hear they are just putting colored rocks up there with no resident access. For residents with a view of it , it might remind them of Las Vegas hotel rooms overlooking the 1 story gaming area's roofs.

I've been watching too much Doctor Who. I looked at that thing and immediately translated the visual to a number of Whoniverse things it could be (random stereotypical ship, silver-ized bubble from the interior of the old-style TARDIS, top of a Dalek, etc). It actually kind of looks like it's...not real, in those pictures. Especially the bottom one. Like it's the sort of not-quite-top-grade CGI used in Doctor Who since it started up again in '05.

A. says it looks "like a pie with whipped cream smoothed all over it."

Makes me want to drive down there and touch it, see what it's really like.

Its an unique piece as it looks to a large continuous piece of stainless steel. No stucco or plastic.

Perhaps your kids will want to try to climb up it. The place is closed off for now. When it opens up for traffic, it will be too late.

Yes, it makes a good alien ship as is. No modifications necessary. There are not a lot of places that could manufacture an object like this.

I walked out there and looked at it, touched it. It's basically a big round lump of stainless steel. It looks like they may be adding some additional features to the turnaround area. It's really not as interesting as the pictures.

Yeah, the real beauty here is in the pictures themselves - and there's nothing wrong with that at all, says I. Truly, photography is a beautiful thing.

a big hubcap?

Perhaps. Just think of the vehicle it must have come from.
