|Haha, beardless man child. Sounds like something Stowe might sketch as a alt reality portrait. Please don't. The beard will return, I guarantee it, after the show's done running.|

Great work everyone and welcome to newcomers the Biodiversity ladies, Ben, Ryan and more. Cheers!
by Libby on 5/29/2009 @ 1:58pm
|Tough decision --- biodiversity is such a precious precious thing... pulls on my heartstrings. And I do love me a fez, I have to admit. But ultimately... the egg is perfection, and, really, where would we be without them? That sidewalk must have been hot. Ben gets my vote from sunny Sacramento where the eggs are cooked BEFORE they hit the sidewalk.|
by Wings_of_Change on 5/29/2009 @ 2:09pm
|Awww... didnt get a picture of mine? oh well, I think Vince has one...|

|Whomever gets the most votes, CLAW wins!
I VOTE CLAWZ!
by Joel 413 on 5/29/2009 @ 2:33pm
|Kevin's got the entries covered, so I'm not going to post mine individually, but you can see them here.|
Frost Park Season 2 Episode 9
Hrm.. voting this week's gonna be tough, lots of new stuff. Awesome Egg, awseome collaborative effort on the part of the CLAW boys. Does anyone have contact info for Ben should he win?
But I'm going selfish this week and VOTE for Joel... that is myself. I rocked that Fez.
by KevinFreitas on 5/29/2009 @ 2:43pm
|@Wings: You weren't done by the time I took off. Plus, you weren't really in the running being that much over time. ;) Rulez is rulez -- even for pregnant ladies.|
Oh, and serious props to Joel for his nod to Buddy Holly putting the thick glasses rim around the eye on that fez. Seriously good work!
by AngelaJossy on 5/29/2009 @ 2:45pm
|Who did the castle and dragon one?|
by Dave_L on 5/29/2009 @ 2:53pm
|Gotta chime in with an apology to Adam who was downwind of my powdered chalk. And Elizabeth recovered some chalk that rolled down the hill (probably mine) that she thoughtfully grabbed to help prevent Erik from having to defend us against a P.I. claim.
I brought an analog clock to help gauge time (something that’s hard for me to do), but perhaps one of the tinkerers among us could make some kind of analog 1-hour Frost Park countdown clock. Perhaps with mechanical Black-Forest-type chalking automata cuckoo characters. Just sayin.
by Joel 413 on 5/29/2009 @ 2:57pm
|@Angela - The dragon and castle are apart of one large piece including the A and the anchor that together spell the word C-L-A-W done by the 4 Founding members of the secret society (EE/RR/MM/Stowe)|
by Mandiferous on 5/29/2009 @ 2:58pm
|I vote for the CLAW (and think they should have to wear their fez and go to dinner first and make a real "date night" out of it).|
by Wings_of_Change on 5/29/2009 @ 3:09pm
|yeah, I think a timer is needed. I didn't think I was that far over time. at least no more than has been allowed in the past...|
by NineInchNachos on 5/29/2009 @ 3:10pm
|I'll post my wide angle pics later tonight.
It was nice to see so much girl power today at frost park. what a magnificent day! My child was cooked.
by Dave_L on 5/29/2009 @ 3:21pm
|So if the CALW founding fathers piece one piece, or four separate ones. Voting-wise, I mean. It's awesome.|
by MarkMonlux on 5/29/2009 @ 3:21pm
|I took a lot of photos of people at today's Chalk Challenge. Please, oh please go to my Flickr Photostream and in the comments add your name. That way you can help me put names to faces and such. Or, you can just check out the fun.
A fez wearing contingent at the theater would be great PR! So, as much as I love, LOVE, the egg. I'm going to vote for the CLAW!
by Erik Hanberg on 5/29/2009 @ 3:24pm
|I'd like to vote for the 4-piece CLAW set. Assuming that we agree it's a single piece and not 4 separate entries.|
by Darkain on 5/29/2009 @ 3:31pm
|Mine are now up!
by NineInchNachos on 5/29/2009 @ 3:40pm
|yo Darkain that pic of Dave L is outa this world!|
by izenmania on 5/29/2009 @ 3:40pm
|I agree that the CLAW piece is a single unit, and vote for it.
Also, Darkain's picture of Adam's piece is kind of absurdly awesome.
by Dave_L on 5/29/2009 @ 3:47pm
|In the bright sunlight couldn't see it that well on your camera display, but I was wondering what you two were working so hard to capture, Darkain - It sounded like you were up to something! Cool effect! And I was discussing with Dawn ealier about the great colors (and darkness) and saturation you get. Things look so good in everyone's photography.|
by mktacoma on 5/29/2009 @ 4:09pm
|If the CLAW piece is one set, I'm totally behind it too. If they're individual pieces, there's something about Dawn's that says awesome to me so I'd vote her way.|
by Wings_of_Change on 5/29/2009 @ 4:19pm
|adams piece looks awesome!!!! wow!|
by Adam the Alien on 5/29/2009 @ 4:30pm
|1) Damn it, Kevin, you broke the thread! You, of all people, should know better! :-P
Now we all have to do serious side-scrolling to read everything. :-(
2) If you picked up a random phone, please contact me or say something in this thread so that I can contact you. My phone is missing, and the last place I saw it was at Frost Park, while I was drawing.
3) I am going to VOTE for the piece by newcomers Corey, Alana, Fran and Jen - wonderful first entry!
by Erik on 5/29/2009 @ 4:36pm
|Nice work on the CLAW piece. One of the best entries at Frost Park ever. So good in fact, it almost beats the submission by Dave L
But not quite so I submit vote for Dave L.'s work.
by jenyum on 5/29/2009 @ 4:39pm
|It's kind of unfair to have that much talent on one team, but I gotta vote for CLAW.|
by Dave_L on 5/29/2009 @ 4:55pm
|You're too kind, Erik. Or crazy. But thanks for the encouragement and trying to get me out there. But each piece of my disjointed sketch is a total half-fast rip-off of another artist's work, which only a few people will identify and catch the common thread. But it's been on my mind this week, timely and sort of local. I'm going to reserve my vote until later, and if it looks as if the ringer CLAW team is running away with it, I'll pick one of the other interesting ones. It's great how a simple egg could give CLAW a run for the money.
A shout out to Andrea, who somehow still managed ensure someone drew a wolf-like creature this week, haha.
One verse from Seattle's Uncle Bonsai, "Send my Body Home" for Andrea:
I don't like the Dakotas / 'Cause there aren't any people / An occasional oasis / And some stupid tourist traps / And though I kind of liked the sunsets / I could tell that they were always the same....
by amocat on 5/29/2009 @ 5:09pm
|I vote for the EGG!|
by droid116 on 5/29/2009 @ 5:37pm
|I love the egg.
The claw is almost unfair and sets new precedent.
However, I am compelled to vote for the piece as a whole.
One vote for C L A W
If not taken as one I will shift my vote to egg
by Courtney on 5/29/2009 @ 5:45pm
|I vote for CLAW but as many others have already said ...that egg is awesome!|
by jamesstoweart on 5/29/2009 @ 5:56pm
|Okay, I am ending the debate right now. The C and the L and the A and the (magnificently rendered) W (that in all right SHOULD be judged by itself and walk off with a solid solo win cause it is just that phenomenal) are one piece made by the collective chalk wielding might that is the CLAW. We in the CLAW are unified in our legendary chalkawesomeness. We would not dream of breaking up the band for the sake of solo votes (regardless of how obvious it is that the W is so clearly ready for a solo career and the other letters are just jealous and envious of his rock talent).

|Amending my last post...
If you found a cell phone and took it with you, please contact me at my home number.
The number is listed on the phone under "Home (Tacoma)".
If the phone has run out of batteries before you do this, or you can't figure it out, worry not.
My home phone is also listed on my Facebook profile's "info" tab.
It is the "Other" number listed below the mobile number.
It is likely not viewable to you if you are not my friend.
Most people here are, and could supply you with the number.
If all else fails, send an e-mail to me at email@example.com.
As I do not presently have a functional computer at home, home phone is preferable.
I can, however, check e-mail from work. So e-mailing me will still get to me.
We now resume with your regularly scheduled voting. At a glance, I think C.L.A.W. may be winning.
by Joel 413 on 5/29/2009 @ 7:40pm
|There's a lot of second guessing in some of the votes. I will attempt to count fairly, but now that it has been clarified that C-L-A-W is one entry, if those people who were on the fence depending on the oneness of that piece want to re-vote with a very clear I VOTE EGG or I VOTE CLAW, it would make my counting less subjective :D
Daaaaaannnk-yooooo. (... mooolteepahhhsss)
by Dave_L on 5/29/2009 @ 7:42pm
|Adam, I think I remember seeing your phone at the end of the hour. Please check your email and see if that's where you remember it was...
(Or someone please contact Adam and tell him to check his email.)
Ah, shoot. I'm sorry Adam. That sux. You've have a lot of misfortune with your electronic gear while doing what you like to do.
by Adam the Alien on 5/29/2009 @ 7:46pm
|Checked. Thanks for the info, Dave, but that's exactly where I'm certain I left it...
...and, sadly, that's exactly where it definitely was not when I went back to the park to look for it.
by Twisty on 5/29/2009 @ 8:31pm
|I'm casting a vote (my first of '09) for Ben's egg.
Why? Because it's sunny side up, just the way I like 'em. (A piece of wheat toast and some hash browns to go with it would have been nice, though.)
Darkain's photography ROCKS, btw.
by ensie on 5/29/2009 @ 9:37pm
by NineInchNachos on 5/29/2009 @ 10:40pm
|to the creator of the egg. Now is the time to email everyone on your contact list telling them to come here and vote for your egg. It's the only way to defeat the all powerful CLAW!!!!!
I vote for my "L"
by NineInchNachos on 5/29/2009 @ 10:43pm
|I'm also worried about Adam the Alien. seems like his chalk entries just get darker and darker. Like he's wrestling with a lot of internal demons. Like jackson pollock|
by ALT on 5/29/2009 @ 11:53pm
|I'll say this about the homestead: I can't think of any other place where one can take a quiet, moonlit stroll down a stretch of highway.
.....In a bathrobe and socks.
Yes, I was delighted to see a wolf made an appearance at today's Chalk Challenge, even if my plane didn't touch down in Seattle until 7:45 tonight!
Beautiful stuff, everyone. The CLAW drew forth (pun fun!) an intimidating and impressive example of artistic collaboration. I also like Dawn's piece - the road sign strikes again!
In the end I must vote for Ben's fried egg. Damn - how hot was it today? :D
by Wings_of_Change on 5/29/2009 @ 11:59pm
|Im gonna vote for the egg. it just rocks.|
by Erik on 5/30/2009 @ 1:47am
|I will attempt to count fairly, but now that it has been clarified that C-L-A-W is one entry|
The burden is heavy Joel! But we have faith in you.
yo Darkain that pic of Dave L is outa this world!
Agreed. One of the best pictures ever taken at Frost Park which shows off Dave L's chalking concentration. The picture also shows Darkain's UA friend from Montana.
by NineInchNachos on 5/30/2009 @ 7:57am
|beautiful job to everyone this episode. You folks make me proud.|
by Joel 413 on 5/30/2009 @ 8:59am
|Wow, what a knockdown drag out fight this week. Is it Egg or is it CLAW... Let's go to the tote board for the results.
Receiving one (1) vote each were: Joel, Fabulous Force-um, Dave, and RR
In the main event for all the tickets:
CLAW (10) v Ben's Egg (7)
Awseome Ben, nice work, we hope you will come out again and take down teh mighty force that is CLAW, but this week the spoils go to the Juggernaught of the stacked CLAW team.
by KevinFreitas on 5/30/2009 @ 9:46am
|Great work everyone! I neglected to get my vote in but was really impressed all around. So can I expect a CLAW contingent at the Buddy Holly Story sometime? Let me know when you want to hit the show and I'll let the box office know. You guys just show up and you'll be golden!|
by Erik on 5/30/2009 @ 10:57am
|Let me know when you want to hit the show and I'll let the box office know.
Cool. CLAW goes to the theater.
by ALT on 5/30/2009 @ 10:58am
|Wow that was a close one! A valiant effort from Ben's army of one against the legion of clawed cartoonists.|
by Erik on 5/30/2009 @ 9:00pm
Chris Van Vecten, candidate for Tacoma School Board Position 2 will sponsor the next Frost Park Chalk Off Season II, Episode X.
