Help Dave L. Clean Frost Park Tonight at 7:00 p.m.

Frost Park activities are pretty casual.  Its a public park after all.

However, there are a few things that take a bit of planning and coordination at Frost Park Chalk Offs.  Keeping the chalking "canvas" relatively clean is one of them.

With the City of Tacoma no longer power washing the area and little rain, we are left to our own to prepare the surface for each Friday.

Join Dave L. Tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Frost Park

(With the chalk artists and spectators long gone, Dave L. cleans Frost Park for Friday's chalk off)

A few days ago, Dave L . announced his intention to meet other volunteers at Frost park for a cleaning party:

I guess I'm as good a person as any to get the clean-up party a regular thing....So this week, let’s do Thursday, 7:00 p.m. If it’s convenient for you to bring a bucket and brush, please do. But if you don’t have one, or are riding the bus or bike, etc., I’ll try to have stuff there to use. See y’all THURSDAY, 7:00 P.M.

Hopefully a few people will join Dave L tonight and perhaps even take a few pictures.

That must have been a long scooter-ride.
As long as one or two show up, that's good enough for the Chalk-Off/Chalk-OFF! In fact, it might make sense in the future to rotate the task as suggested, to make best use out of those who need to make more of an effort to get there. I should be there tonight, no problem, but don't be afraid to start without me.

As I mentioned in my event calendar posting, I think that if all the major players in the chalk-off could make a point to come to cleanup once a month, we'd still have more than enough help.

I'll try to be there but I won't have any cleaning utensils of my own.

WATER FIGHT!!!!

It only took about 15 minutes last time. Having Paddy Coynes next door served as the reward.

Just 42 minutes away from the clean up party!

Film at eleven, but before my computer time here at the library dwindles away, THANK YOU team Stowe / Team Lucks for washing the chalk-off in preparation for Friday's Chalk-Off. And thank you India Mahal for saving the day after we found our usual source of water dry, forcing us to fetch pails of water from their back sink. If my grainy pix emailed to him O.K., Stowe might have a few pix to post. Anyone willing to take on next week, please think about a preferred day.

Just got back from the Frost Park Clean-Up Party!

Let me give you a short recap.

First there was no WATER FIGHT!!!!! because there was no water...

The fountain was bone dry!

Luckily Dave had the forethought to ask this week's sponsor India Mahal restaurant if we could borrow some water, and after a sloshy intersection we were finally cleaning.

The crew consisted of Myself, my lovely wife Courtney, my son Barrett, little Audrey, Co-Greatest Illustrator in the Universe of Tacoma Dawn and, of course, our ringleader Dave (taking the picture) L.

We scrubbed...

and scrubbed...

And witnessed a seagull kill, gut and eat a pigeon (which was an odd omen and disgusting... I mean seriously... who knew that they DID that).

The park is now clean (save for some pigeon guts) and chalk free.

I can't wait until tomorrow!

Thanks Dave, Dawn and Courtney!

Nice work all. Wow. What heart!

First the Tacoma Art List Serve goes down last week and now Frost Park fountains goes dry. Multiple technology failures. Yet, Frost Park perseveres.

The task looked to be more involved when water was scarce. However, it looked like a good chance to make some good connections with India Mahal.

There's getting to be a number of adjacent businesses more friendly to us.

Lil' Chickadee mentioned spotting a dead bird at the park last week ... I wonder if this is a regular dining spot. Gross. A sacrificial beast? Do we need a cleansing of the spirits? Shudder. That's just freakin' weird. Seems a tad cannibalistic.

I'm glad the place was cleaned up. When Christian (my boss for Thursday's Stranger deliveries) and I drove by there earlier in the day, I noticed that the remnants of last week were still very prominent. So when we next drove by the park toward the end of the day, I was delighted to see people cleaning. I would have joined in, but I was still on the clock at the time.
