"Progressive" Democrats Endorse Calvin Goings For Pierce County Executive
With environmentalists, County Councilmember Tim Ferrell and Tacoma City Councilmember Lauren Walker endorsing Calvin Goings, it is pretty clear he is the most "progressive" candidate in the election.
I received this today:
In the final weeks of the campaign for Pierce County Executive, two key
local leaders have given their endorsement to Calvin Goings.
Pierce County Councilmember, and Lauren Walker, Tacoma City Councilmember, are
endorsing Goings' campaign citing his private sector management experience, 18
years of public service, and his bold vision for a more prosperous Pierce
"I am so pleased to have the endorsement of my colleague Tim Farrell as
well as Tacoma City Councilmember Lauren Walker," said Goings. "As Executive, I
look forward to working closely with these two well respected leaders to create
family wage jobs, clean up our environment, and keep Pierce County moving

Tacoma City Councilmember Walker expressed her support for Goings'
progressive platform for Executive by citing Goings record of tackling the tough
issues facing our community, "Calvin Goings has the unique ability to bring
diverse interests to the table to address our toughest challenges and find
positive solutions in a collaborative way. Calvin will not be afraid to roll up
his sleeves and work with the City of Tacoma to find solutions to our public
safety and environmental challenges," expressed Walker.
Pierce County Councilmember Farrell noted that while working side by side
with Goings on the Council for the past four years "no one works harder than
Calvin Goings to protect our environment and create family wage jobs. I look
forward to serving with Goings as our next County Executive."
Goings is the only candidate for Pierce County Executive who has the sole
endorsements of the Pierce County Labor Council, Tacoma Pierce County
Association of Realtors, Sierra Club, and Washington Conservation Voters.
Commentary: This election is going to a close one.
