New Chalk Off Prizes: Lunch for 4, Chalk, Trenchcoat
(This Friday 6/27/2008 is Frost Park Chalk Off Episode XII at noon at 9th and Pacific Avenue. All are welcome)
Prize No. 1 For First Place
All you can eat lunch buffet at India Mahal Restaurant for the winner and three guests.
(Jen of Tacomamamma and children outside of India Mahal)
As for the food there, RR Anderson states:
"nothing like hot nahn bread and butter chicken curry!"
Tacoma mamma rated India Mahal as well:
See also the online menuIndia mahal serves up a great $8.99 lunch buffet. I think they actually have more choices than Bombay Bistro, for a little less money. I showed up a little before 2, which is pretty late for a lunch buffet, and found the food to still be fresh and hot.
The buffet includes naan bread, salad, raita (yogurt sauce), spicy mint chutney, rice pudding, and an Indian pastry dessert as well as the usual buffet standards like Tandoori chicken and saag paneer. The sides really do make the meal more interesting, and I also liked the big stainless steal trays with compartments, since most everything is pretty stew-like in consistency.
The buffet is available Monday through Friday for lunch only, although they have a sign promising a Saturday lunch buffet soon...but the food is consistently very good. We've tried them out a few times on a date night and have been pretty pleased...

Thanks for setting up this sponsor Jen!
Prize No. 2 for First Place: Mystery vintage
clothing from John Hathaway
Hathaway gave his vintage Fedora to Lance Kagey of Beautiful Angle who prevailed in the Chalk Off in Episode VIII.
Here, Lance is "crowned" with John Hathaway's historical 60 plus year old Fedora.

This time, my understanding is that Hathaway will be offering a vintage trench coat he used for sleuthing around Tacoma. More details later.
Second Place Prize : Feed Tacoma Generosity Prize
The second place prize will be determined by the generosity of the Feed Tacoma readers and offers the chance for anyone to become a sponsor for this prize and show appreciation for the Frost Park Chalk Off contestants.
Perhaps RR Anderson will throw in one of his prized "Official HFW Membership" Kits?
Here's your chance to be sponsor by simply offering your prize below such as a certificate for cupcakes, food, haircuts, coffee, spa treatments, chalking supplies, or other prizes or simply cold cash.
Gift Certificates from Tacoma merchants for products can be purchased. Simply post your prize below. Pictures or graphics of it are often useful.
Perhaps we can get the second place prizes this week to cumulatively exceed the first place prizes. The more prizes, the better.
Please acquire and post your acquired prize by 11:00 a.m. on Friday 6/27.
Third Place Prize : Chalk Supplies
The third place prize will be substantial chalking supplies.
The third place prize consists of 28 large chalking sticks plus a complete 24 piece chalk set. Slightly used. The larger chalks are courtesy of Laura Hanan of Brick and Mortar Gallery. The chalk set is from Warren of Tacoma Art Supply.
See everyone at Frost Park on Friday

by Dave_L on 6/26/2008 @ 8:28pm | Thanks to Tacomamama for securing the India Mahal prize, and a BIG THANK YOU to India Mahal for graciously filling our Frost Park cleaning buckets water after we discovered our secret source of water had been drained before our arrival. They saved the day. (Yummy dinner I had afterwards, too!) |
by jenyum on 6/26/2008 @ 10:56pm | Glad you had a great dinner there!
Another reason to love this week's sponsor:
lunch buffet. Of course, you have to picture some nan in there, which I can't eat. |
