"Downtown on the Go!" is a collaborative campaign sponsored by the City of Tacoma, Pierce Transit, UWT and the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber of Commerce which was formed to address transportation needs downtown and is funded by a Growth and Transportation Efficiency Center grant from WSDOT.

Our primary goals are to promote biking, walking, transit, and carpooling and to encourage people to leave their cars at home.

First, Second and Third Place Prize:

The top three chalk off challengers will have the ultra rare privilege of being taken to lunch by Amy McBride at the Matador.

For artists wishing to make contacts in Tacoma, here's their chance. Perhaps Ms. McBride will describe how the arts are funded in Tacoma and the inner workings of the Tacoma Art List Serve  The top three contestants in Episode XXV will also receive an October Puget Pass .

Commentary:
It took 24 episodes and endless media exposure for the City of Tacoma to fully recognize the Frost Park Chalk Off challenges.  Yet, here we are.

Special mention

Liz Kaster, frequent chalk off attendee and the Mobility Intern for the City of Tacoma took the lead in setting up the prize for this episode.

Thanks Liz!

Here's an article on McBride from Crosscut:

I've since talked with Amy McBride, arts administrator for the City of Tacoma. McBride has held the position for nine years and has done much to fuel Tacoma's renaissance — although she's more likely to credit Tacoma Arts Commission members and others for the city's success.

McBride says that a record 31 studios were open for the Art at Work month studio tour this November, up from just 14 when the program launched six years ago. She has also seen the number of arts events in Tacoma quadruple during that same time period.

I think it was a local non-chalkie artist, rare as they may be.

Joe Baque's an excellent choice, btw. And I've been digging Blackwater and Mad Hat more and more lately.
Don't forget to get your tickets to the Tacoma Film Festival showing of the Chalk-Off documentary.

Thanks Dave_L.

From the film web site:

The film briefly examines how Chalk Off got started in Tacoma and why local artists and the community rose to the call to help save Frost Park from being fenced up and closed to the public.

Frost Park is named after Tacoma Police officer Larry L. Frost who was tragically killed on duty. *Filmmaker in attendance *Local film
