Politics, Cookies, Tech and Art Hit Frost Park
Today was another good time at Frost Park.
The rain certainly tested the dedication of Tacoma's civic activists.Things were happening fast.
Gretchen and her family from Herban Cafe appeared with the Pink Cookies:

Gretchen got soaked but still showed up much to the pleasure of the crowd.
Throughout lunch people seemed to be coming and going.
Erik Emery and folks from City Arts Magazine were there
Here's a view of the crowd about halfway through the event.
But the excitement did not stop there. County Council member Tim Farrell showed up and gave a good talk about the history of Frost Park and the future of the park:
Then finally, lunch time was over. Councilmember Ferrell invited whoever wanted to have (a second?) lunch at Paddy Coyne's. I attended for a bit.
.
One issue discussed at some length was how much longer must Tacomans wait until the blightfull North Park Parking Plaza Garage can be demolished and replaced.
The Tacoma press, artists, technologists, writers and restaurateurs made a good showing. To all of the attendees, you deserve a medal. I have observed how hard it is to get anyone to show up to any event in Tacoma. To have this many people of so many backgrounds hang out in the rain in winter for an hour is pretty incredible. With Tim giving a speech, for a moment it seemed like a traditional public square.
