Contest Rules and Procedures
(Here's how I understand they will run the contest)
1) Register at "Out in Tacoma Booth" at event and get assigned a numbered chalking space
2) Chalk From Noon to 1:00 p.m.
3) Voting will take place by spectators who will place a dot by the chalk artists number on an easel board. Voting can also occur at the Out in Tacoma booth. Robin McKinney will be running the event.
4) Winner will be announced and brought on stage at 1:30 p.m. Most likely County Councilmember Tim Farrell will award the prize to the winner on stage with some fanfare.

Commentary : With the growing popularity of competitive chalking in Tacoma, it is nice to see other groups host such an event and raise the bar.
Out in Tacoma will be offering the most lucrative dinner prize known in Tacoma's chalking history. Enough for the victor to sit in the formal dining area at El Gaucho, enjoy the Filet Mignon a few drinks and flaming Cherries Jubilee, with enough left for tax and the tip.
Admittedly, the victors dinner date will have to fend for themselves with such an order. But the large portion of the Filet could be ordered and still be split.
Consequently, I expect a slew of new artists that will likely challenge the regular Frost Park Chalk Off contestants who will be a bit out of their element.
Plus, there have been a number of Tacoma artists who have never appeared at Frost Park who have been waiting for the right moment to take on the regular chalkies.
