Remember the proposed Safeway Remodel in the Proctor District?
Here is the latest drawing:
The City of Tacoma Land Use Administrator has now approved the new Safeway design:
The newly designed Safeway will be an improvement as it will reduce the amount of blightful surface level parking lot square footage. The new design will also be correctly built up to the curb with glass on Proctor rather than a blank wall as originally designed.
Yet, the design could have been better by having an entrance on Proctor.
Congrats to the North End Neighborhood Council and other community members who worked hard for the better design.

|Awesome! Too bad I don't live near it anymore. I shopped there for 4 and a half years. Just moved away about 6 months ago.|

|Thanks for the update! It will be interesting to see the remodel in progress.
Is there really going to be a Starbucks in there? That would make 3 in a 2 block area! One Starbucks on the corner of 26th & Proctor, one in Met Market, and one in Safeway.

|I think the Starbucks MAY be inside the store.|

Thanks Fredo. Hopefully, they will proceed with the remodel. The place could use a very serious renovation.

|There is no Starbucks in the Metropolitan. There is coffee, but it isn't Starbucks. I might add it is far superior to Starbucks.|
