Top 7 Reasons To Vote to Retain Mark Lindquist For Pierce County Prosecutor

1. Experienced prosecutor who has helped reduced crime in Pierce County.

For almost five years Mark was the
Team Chief of the Drug Unit. In that time methamphetamine labs were reduced by nearly 90% in Pierce County. In the effort to reduce methamphetamine labs, Mark worked with local law enforcement, the community, and our legislative delegation.

2. Attended the exact same elite (formally) Tacoma based law school as the Tacoma Urbanist in the same exact year and section.

3. Deliberately choose to be a public servant when he had opportunities in the private sector as an accomplished author. Unlike some elected officials, he does not need the job.

4. Has fought to keep Tacoma from being the "dumping ground" for felons for the rest of the State of Washington.

5. Maintains contact and credibility with both the mainstream, alternative media, neighborhood associations, the Tacoma Blogosphere and many other civic groups.

6. Lindquist was appointed as the Prosecutor to serve out the remainder of Gerry Horne's term by a bi-partison unanimous vote of the Pierce County Council.

7. Lindquist is friends with Tim Farrell, friend of Tacoma and former Frost Park Chalk Off sponsor.

Appointment to prosecutor:

Mark Lindquist appointed prosecutor

Friday Sep 04 2009 8:57 AM

On Tuesday, Sept. 1, the Pierce County Council unanimously voted to appoint Mark Lindquist as Pierce County Prosecutor.

Lindquist, formerly the Chief Criminal Deputy, has been with the office for 14 years and has tried nearly every type of case, including domestic violence, rape, child abuse, murder, and the Tacoma Mall shooter.

Lindquist told the Council that his top priorities were putting away violent criminals, carrying on the fight to stop the department of corrections from using Pierce County as a dumping ground for felons from other counties, reducing the felony case backlog, and "getting the most bang for the taxpayer's buck."

"I will run an office that is professional, non-partisan, and serves the public well," Lindquist said.

He thanked the Council for prioritizing public safety and for "understanding that it doesn't do any good to put more cops on the street if you don't have deputy prosecutors on the other end to hold the bad guys accountable."

In the public meeting the council members praised Lindquist's leadership. "Pierce County is lucky to have him," said Council Member Barbara Gelman, (D). "You're a great communicator," Council Member Dick Muri (R) said to Lindquist. "I know you're going to be a great prosecutor."

Council Chair Roger Bush (R), said, "I join my coIleagues in commending Mr. Lindquist to the citizens of Pierce County. We look forward to great leadership."

Lindquist lives with his wife Chelsea in Tacoma.

Fundraiser info for Prosecutor Mark Lindquist:

Dear Friends,

We moved the kick-off party, which will be Saturday, June 5, 7 p.m.

Sorry for any inconvenience, but we moved the date to accommodate the schedule of our headlining band, The Beatniks, and our other musical guest stars. They will help make this into an exceptional event you won't want to miss.

The location remains the same: Heidelberg Brewery Warehouse in downtown Tacoma, 2210 C. Street South.

Sponsors include Sheriff Paul Pastor, Congressman Adam Smith, Tacoma Mayor Marilyn Strickland, Crime Stoppers Executive Director Ed Troyer and others. There will be beer, wine, food, and a lot of good people.

We are busy in the Prosecutor's Office, aggressively pursuing violent gangs, holding accountable all the defendants who helped cop-killer Maurice Clemmons, and reducing the Superior Court backlog to increase access to justice.

While I take care of business as your County Prosecutor, I also have to run for election this fall. I am honored to have the endorsements of former prosecutors Gerry Horne and John Ladenburg, former Governor and U.S. Senator Daniel J. In all fairness, let's see some information on his opponent(s).

If he manages to put a few more gangs in prison, I'd vote for him to be the State AG, maybe even the Governor. He has my vote for Pierce County Crime Dog.

Plus, if T-Town ever wants to get some political clout, we have to start voting for the hometown folks that are qualified to do the job. Mark Lindquist certainly seems qualified. If we get some T-Towners in high places in County and State Govt, we will finally get to exert a little control over what happens around here.
