Transform Black Friday into Buy Local Day
Today is Black Friday, the day we are all supposed to be at our local strip mall waiting in line for the plastic of the month.
Yet, there is something we can do:
Buy Local in Tacoma

Maybe if we ask people to dress up as something and ride bikes around downtown ;)? I'm halfway kidding about that. We need a hook that will entice the young'uns. "Buy Nothing Day" sounds appealing and subversive and alla that then the next day right back to the same buying habits. |

It's supposed to be a card that works like a discount club card, for local businesses. There's apparently a Puget Sound card. |

Sounds interesting. It appears to work somewhat like Scrip which allows people to pay the same amount for goods and services but then a portion of the patyment goes to a good cause. Interra looks better (and more practical) as the people using it get some of the savings deposited back as well which could motivate people to use it. |
