WA Representative Superdelegate Brian Baird Endorses Obama
(More local superdelegate news)
OLYMPIA, Wash. — U.S. Rep. Brian Baird is endorsing Barack Obama.
Eight other superdelegates remain uncommitted. Hillary Clinton has the support of five of the state's superdelegates.
In announcing his endorsement Friday, Baird cites Obama's "ability to move Americans past the issues that divide us and unite our country for change.
From Baird
“Our nation faces extraordinary challenges domestically and abroad. I believe Senator Obama will bring a vision of unity that will rekindle the very best of our society and help all Americans move past the partisanship of the past and into the progressive partnership of the future. It has been many years since Americans, particularly young Americans, felt the sense of enthusiasm, hope and involvement that Senator Obama has inspired. We need to nurture that enthusiasm for the good of all Americans and I look forward to working closely in Congress with President Obama.”
Commentary:
Clinton still leads superdelegates in Washington 6-4 the opposite of WA voters preference. Eight superdelegates are uncommittted.
