Free the Chihuly Bridge!

Downloadable petition to Free the Bridge!

The online petition is taking off, but for those of you who prefer to put pen to paper, here's a pdf version of the petition. Print a few extras to give to friends and to leave in your favorite stores - we'll round them up in a few weeks.

What's the current paper and online signature count?

There are 27 signatures online as of this morning.

I don't know how many of these are duplicates of the paper petition, but please, if you are reading this and you haven't signed it yet, it only takes a second and only your name, city, and state will be publicly visible.

The paper petitions seem to be filling up pretty quickly.

Any plans for signature collectors at the Thursday Farmers Market? (Probably would be good to have pictures of the fence so people know what they're signing...)

Also, how about events at the gate itself? Seems like that would be the most direct route towards getting new signatures. Lest we forget that a large portion of Tacoma doesn't read the blogs...

Probably a good one to remove, Erik. I signed one of those and, tho I'm not a terribly private person, that's a pretty crappy deal for anyone who would rather stay private when expression support for such an issue.

Petitions are almost available for public viewing regardless of their use by their very nature. Names are collected and they are later submitted to public agencies. The signatories and their addresses are also public information.

Nevertheless, I have modified the picture a bit to make the people and their addresses significantly harder to read.

I know that the museum will be getting my address. (and I can see where you all live, as the admin, mwahahahaha) but I like that the addresses aren't publicly visible on the online petition. It's one thing for an agency to see them and another for them to be right out there on the stalker wide web. I try to keep my address off anything publicly viewable online.

well I know I wouldn't have participated if I knew this was going to be on flickr tagged "Tacoma"

cheers

I just looked at it again and it's fixed up now with big blue splotches obscuring most of the private info.

I'm going to just repost my original questions, since they got sort of lost in the (rightful) privacy discussion:

Good idea Jamie. You can download the documents online for signature in the PDF format. Thanks.

I don't mean just stand there with a petition, I'm talking spectacle! How do we get people looking at the fence and saying to themselves, "WTF? I'm going to sign this petition, and convince all my friends, too!"...

Over on one of the exit133 threads, some ideas I threw out were people in prison suits standing behind the wall tapping their tin cups against the bars, or bridge-wall volleyball (someone else suggested badminton, which is probably a better idea given the roadway proximity volleyball bounciness).

More ideas, anyone?

I would plan something for this Thursday's artwalk. With Zietbike going on, it should be a big one.

Not volunteering to do it, though...

On the Farmer's Market idea: I am going in too many directions already. However, Erik or Morgan might stop by the Local Living Lounge and see if there is an org there that might agree to take it at their table.
