Frost Park Scrub Down!

The sidewalks are clear from the recent rain, but the vertical surfaces could use a scrubbing. The fountains have been off so water will probably have to be gathered from the "B" sources.

Let's plan to do this tomorrow evening. I plan on grabbing some dinner then getting to the park about 6:30. Does this work for people? If not speak up.

Cool, thanks Joel. I'm in for tomorrow night no problem. I'll likely be on bike (weather pending) so if someone can bring an extra brush I'd appreciate it.

Laura (if you're out there) will you be around that we may get some water from your spigot?

Nice work Joel. It would be nice to see the fountain turn back on so Dave L. can bring back his flotilla.

Thanks for taking this on and heading it up this week, Joel! Especially with a couple people, it only takes a few minutes. (A few more if Prang and cowboy chalk was in heavy use.) I will see if I can get an extra bucket and brush out to you guys.

I'll bring what buckets and brushes I can find. Maybe even a small helper or two, get things pretty for Friday! See you all there!

Don't forget photos! (If Erikls doesn't show up and make you pose, haha). I have a bucket and brush in the car I'll try to drop-off and maybe hide beforehand

I think I will be around

Maybe I can give Dave L or Kevin a key to the downstairs door so when I'm not here you can still get to the spigot

Yes, the cleaning of Frost Park is a creative event in and of itself.

Damn you to hell. I should have expected that :-)
Does the key work on any of the other doors?

Has anyone talked to the city or Metro Parks (can't remember which maintains this one) about getting access to a nearby water spigot?

It could make all our lives easier if we could just swing by, hook up a hose, and be done with it.

by izenmania on 4/30/2009 @ 2:40pm
It's a city park, not a MetroParks park.

by Dave_L on 4/30/2009 @ 7:02pm

Yeah, using that spigot would be great. Almost takes all the fun out of it, but it would be faster and better. I couldn't get by, but I hope it went well tonight.

Went well indeed. Thanks to the buckets and brushes of Joel and the help of his wife, daughter and son we rocked it the best we could with limited H2O. Should be ready to go for a beautiful sunny day out there tomorrow. See y'all at Frost Park!

remember to bring copies of May City Arts to get it autographed by members of THE CLAW!

Thanks to Kevin for the help, it went well. Doesn't take long with a couple of buckets a couple of brushes and a couple of people!

Also BIG thanks to INDIA MAHAL for allowing us to fill our buckets this week, super nice people, and super great smelling food. I will definately be partaking of their food in the not to distant future.

Sorry I wasn't available for water - I got hung up in Seattle - need to give a key

by Dave_L on 5/26/2009 @ 6:33pm
Not sure if this is the right blog to ask any more, but...
Is there going to be a scrub-down this week? Short week and there is probably a lot to clean, since we control the horizontal and we control the vertical . Does any day work better than any other for water, Scout?

by scout on 5/26/2009 @ 11:53pm
I gave Kevin a key and had one for you - but you weren't there :-(

I can't remember but I think I gave Kevin your key to give to you. That way at least one of you can open the door to get the spigot even when I'm not there.

I'm going to try to get down to FP to scrub and get water where I can. There's always the fountain by the bus stop, I think. Are you around later Kevin, for the Scout-key?

by Dave_L on 5/27/2009 @ 7:41pm
I've got a few buckets of water loaded in the car (seriously) and will head down there right now to see what I can do.

by Dave_L on 5/27/2009 @ 9:30pm
THANKS to Joel, who just happened to be driving by to check the status of the chalk while I was washing and helped me do a fairly decent washing for three buckets worth of water. It's so much easier with two people. As usual, a local didn't like that we were getting rid of the art, so an ex-planation was in order. We hauled out a little trash, too, but it's crazy how much trash some of the locals leave. Also witnessed one near fistfight and some TPD presence. I think I earned that pint and Malbec at the Rosewood.

Nice work!

Thanks guys! Hoping to have time next Wed. night to help give the park a scrub. Looking forward to tomorrow's chalking in the meantime!

Hey, Kev, if you still have those newsletters I loaned you a while back, I will be at FP tomorrow. I'd like get those back sometime and look over them with Morgan and see what's blog-worthy between the two of us.
