Green Drinks

tonight

Tonight, Thursday, May 1, 2008, Tacoma Green Drinks will get together at the Hub from 5:30 – 8 p.m. Did I hear that we get a drink discount for taking the bus or riding our bikes?

I had trouble finding this information, which I knew I had seen somewhere, so I thought I'd re-post it here to maybe help out another.

Boozing environmentalists
MATT DRISCOLL: TOMORROW NIGHT AT THE HUB >>>

While environmental groups often get stereotyped as elitist, Prius driving, granola munching, tree hugging, sandal wearing wackos, it’s a misconception that could use debunking. Especially these days, environmentalists are everywhere and are everyone – and thank goodness for it. Somebody has to look out for Mother Earth.

If you need proof that environmentalists are just like you and me, consider this: Environmentalists like to drink. It’s true. Not only do they like to drink, but in Tacoma they get together and do it regularly.

It’s called Tacoma Green Drinks, and on the first Tuesday of every month the group meets at a local watering hole and talks sustainability, conservation and the environment.

Tomorrow night Tacoma Green Drinks will get together at the Hub from 5:30 – 8 p.m. You’re totally invited – unless you insist on driving that 1974 Plymouth Duster. Tacoma Green Drinks suggest you take the bus or ride a bike.

LOL. Nice. I look forward to meeting you. I'll be the one with the red, sweaty face and the glaze-eyed look I always get when I ride.

About

Hello! I'm Heather and I'm a bit manic about Tacoma.

I'll probably be blogging about my experiences in Tacoma as they relate to the environment (natural and built), social (in)justice, community building, economic development, bio-diesel, public transit, biking, gardening, home improvement, food & wine, and my little family (me, my fiance, one dog, one cat). This is my first attempt at writing a blog - so please bear with me.

JUNE UPDATE: I am now managing the Tacoma Farmers Market on 6th Ave. Until the market opens on July 15, I will be extraordinarily busy and not blogging much - if at all. I'll miss it. If you want to contact me about the market, you can send a message to 6thAve@tacomafarmersmarket.com
