The Hood Gets Greener
One of our neighbors installed a new roof a few months ago and it is looking fabulous. I don't know what kind of grass they planted up there, but it sure looks healthy.

by fredo on 12/28/2008 @ 10:43am | Will these roofs handle the loads? And what about property insurance? Do you need approval from your lender to attempt this?. The roofs I've seen are pretty but what if a homeowner wants scotch broom up there? |
by Dave_L on 12/29/2008 @ 12:01pm | @Erik - Troy says he did that one, too. |
by Altered Chords on 12/29/2008 @ 1:49pm | Troy told me that the grass greatly extends the life of a roof. It negates the harmful effect of heat from the sun - the greatest threat to any roof.
You can't get any greener than having a grass roof! Awesome! (but I wouldn't want to mow it) |
by Dave_L on 12/29/2008 @ 4:33pm | That reminds me, I actually saw a "Flymo" at Troy's place! I wonder if that's what he uses. (Either that or it was part of some personal hovercraft project.) |

About
Hello! I'm Heather and I'm a bit manic about Tacoma.
I'll probably be blogging about my experiences in Tacoma as they relate to the environment (natural and built), social (in)justice, community building, economic development, bio-diesel, public transit, biking, gardening, home improvement, food & wine, and my little family (me, my husband, one dog, one cat). This is my first attempt at writing a blog - so please bear with me.
