Philadelphia in November
Rick and I just returned from a lovely trip to Philadelphia. On Friday, Rick had 8 meetings but I got to walk all over the city sightseeing. I was really pleased that many of the fall leaves were still hanging in there.

Philadelphia is such a great place to walk. The sidewalks are pretty beat up in some places, but there is so much to look at and the vibe is so, well, vibrant, that I didn't mind a few little ankle twists. I thought about Tacoma while walking over several beautiful pedestrian bridges that traverse an expressway that runs through the city, not unlike our 705.

The bridges give walkers easy access to the beautiful waterfront area of Penn Landing where you can take in the views and stroll along the river.

I thought I would use some of the pictures I took to compare Philly to T-town and make a case for making our city more walkable. But, now that I'm home, I'm thinking that our town is pretty fab and I'm glad to be home. Sure, there are many improvements to be made, but I'm confident that together, in due time, we will make them.
About
Hello! I'm Heather and I'm a bit manic about Tacoma.
I'll probably be blogging about my experiences in Tacoma as they relate to the environment (natural and built), social (in)justice, community building, economic development, bio-diesel, public transit, biking, gardening, home improvement, food & wine, and my little family (me, my husband, one dog, one cat). This is my first attempt at writing a blog - so please bear with me.
