I had the privilege of visiting Terry's Berries last week for work. You can buy produce from Terry's Berries at the Tacoma Farmers Market on Broadway on Thursdays and from the Tacoma Farmers Market on 6th Ave on Tuesdays (beginnning July 15). Or, you can drive out to the farm store at 4520 River Road.
We were out at the farm doing a site visit in preparation for a local foods fundraising dinner in the fall. More on that next month!
While there, I got a few minutes on my own to snap a few photos of some volunteer poppies in Terry's back field. It was a beautiful day and it felt so good to be walking around a working farm. A few of the photos are so lovely that I want to share them with you.
Also during our visit, we had a surprise encounter with Carrie, FARM Program Specialist, witht the Pierce County FARM Board. She said that she needed my picture for a display and snapped one right there. Agent Janie said that she saw the display during Jazzy June, that it looked pretty good, and that my photo jumped right out at her. On Thursday, Carrie forwarded a copy of the photo to me and I have to agree that it's not too bad. The produce in the background looks glorious.
Hello! I'm Heather and I'm a bit manic about Tacoma.
I'll probably be blogging about my experiences in Tacoma as they relate to the environment (natural and built), social (in)justice, community building, economic development, bio-diesel, public transit, biking, gardening, home improvement, food & wine, and my little family (me, my husband, one dog, one cat). This is my first attempt at writing a blog - so please bear with me.
