Puppies
Whew, I'm almost done with a 4 day, 5 night puppy-sitting stint. These two girls are so adorable and so mischevious. They do the typical puppy things that I'd forgotten about: biting my ankles with their sharp little teeth, turning shoes into chew toys, getting their little tiny claws stuck in my clothes when they jump up, peeing out of fear when the big dog snarls at them, making a run for the big dog's food every time I forget that I left it down (she is a snacker), pooping an amazing amount for such little bodies, and destroying my already sad pot of flowers on the back porch. You know, puppy stuff. Of course, puppy stuff also includes laying on my feet while napping, playing all rough and rumble tumble, snuggling so sweetly on the sofa in the evenings, and being curious about everything -- like water from a hose and the big dog playing fetch.
They are, by the way, available to a GOOD home. I was just watching them while their foster mom was away this week, but they are looking for a permanent spot. They are Lab/Pit Bull mix and both are girls. Tiger Lily is all about people and is a bit afraid of the big dog, but keeps trying to make friends. Pearl is all about the big dog, she tries so hard to copy her every move. They are sweet with cats. Both are adorable and on their way to being really well trained. They have been well loved since they were about 4 weeks old; no abuse in their short lives. I don't know that they have had much exposure to children yet.

Pandora, on puppy patrol.
We were seriously considering adopting one of them, but found that we are not really ready to train another dog and Pandora doesn't really seem to be ready for a sibling yet. It is nice, though, to find out that we are pretty happy with our family, as is!

by Heather on 6/21/2008 @ 11:06am | She does look like Perdita! Is Perdita ready for a sibling? I bet you guys are great dog parents! |
by ensie on 6/21/2008 @ 2:29pm | I like to think we are good dog parents. In fact, if you check out my blog, you'll see we are parents to several animals - five cats and three dogs at the moment. We had another dog up until last November, our cockatiel Gilbert just recently passed away, and we have a cat up for adoption at our vet's office right now. As much as we would love to adopt another, we are at our limit!
Much luck to you and the foster parents of the pups in finding a wonderful home for them! |
by Heather on 6/22/2008 @ 7:50pm | Oh, I had read about Princess Sadie Thumbs, but that was before I knew/realized that was your blog. Yes, it does sound like you have a full home :)
I'll read your blog more often now that I know it is yours! |
by agentjanie on 7/1/2008 @ 11:04am | Awww, I didn't know you'd posted these b/c I have had no time to ad more blogs to my routine. I've got the girls posted on a local petfinder site and just re-posted a craigslist ad - my first one a month back was deleted for some reason. I called the Prison Pet Partnership Program at Purdy, but they scout for particular dogs at shelters only. My hopeful home for Pearl fell through today. :( Nothing about Pearl, but the hubby wants nothing to do with a second dog in principle. *sigh*
Thanks, again, for your wonderful care while I was in Ashland. I know you're crazy busy with your market, so if I don't see you before it opens I will see you there! :) |

About
Hello! I'm Heather and I'm a bit manic about Tacoma.
I'll probably be blogging about my experiences in Tacoma as they relate to the environment (natural and built), social (in)justice, community building, economic development, bio-diesel, public transit, biking, gardening, home improvement, food & wine, and my little family (me, my husband, one dog, one cat). This is my first attempt at writing a blog - so please bear with me.
