Whew
Tuesday was the last market of the season for the 6th Ave Farmers Market. The weather was beautiful, actually amazing for September 30. We only had one vendor who was unable to make it to market and the community definitely made it out. I saw a lot of familiar faces, as well as a few new ones. It was so wonderful to see everyone. Thank you, all, for your support over the last 12 weeks; I don't think I would have made it through without your help. As I wrap up this season and start to prepare for the next, your comments are welcome. We'll be starting the next season on June 2nd.
My camera battery has been dead for many weeks. I finally installed a new battery and there were a few pictures of the market. So, these pics aren't of the last week, but they are still pretty fun. There were also pictures from the weekend of our wedding. Where did the last month go?
We start market day downtown, loading supplies from the Broadway Farmers Market into our trusty old truck. Rick helped us load most days. He is the one that figured out how to fit everything into one load. Don Izenman was ALWAYS there with his strong back and willingness to work til the job was done.

Almost every week there were a few cars parked in the No Parking zones until the last minute. I'm SO grateful that I never had to have anyone towed.

Still setting up. Around 3:00. By 3:15 we usually had about 25 people trying to shop. The booth on the right is Collins Family Fruit. They showed up every week. Brian is setting out fruit while talking to Nikki from The Health Connection.

This week, Ari, of Full Circle had help. Usually she did all of the work herself. Intense.

Still setting up. Looks like about half the vendors have arrived. Then my battery died. So sad.

About
Hello! I'm Heather and I'm a bit manic about Tacoma.
I'll probably be blogging about my experiences in Tacoma as they relate to the environment (natural and built), social (in)justice, community building, economic development, bio-diesel, public transit, biking, gardening, home improvement, food & wine, and my little family (me, my husband, one dog, one cat). This is my first attempt at writing a blog - so please bear with me.
