Clinics Open Up at Local Rite Aid's
Say "Aaaaaaah" at more places in WA
Options for access to health care in the area just got a little easier. This week, MultiCare opened up two express clinics inside local Rite Aids. The new locations are staffed by Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners that will offer care for minor infections, vaccinations, sports physicals, cold and flu, rashes, and more. Since these clinics are at a drug store it's east after your visit to then fill a prescription.
The first Tacoma location is at the Rite Aid near 72nd and Portland Ave. [ map ]

Seems like a win-win considering it's easier for people to get access to basic care while this helps free up other MultiCare facilities for more serious health concerns. I'm sure this idea will spread from these initial two locations as it's really nice to see a form of neighborhood health care coming back. I would love to see more of these locations already because I once had pink eye and had to go the the hospital to get care when really all I needed was a quick look and prescription eye drops. Heck, I might even drive to the 72nd Street location anyway.
Full disclosure: MultiCare is a client of ours at work

by izenmania on 7/23/2008 @ 9:46am | Okay, not really. Research shows that Rite Aid has done this in a number of locations, actually longer than WalMart has been doing it. Both organizations seem to be teaming with established local health care providers rather than hiring their own people. Perhaps Rite Aid just grabbed up MultiCare before WM got ahold of them?
Makes me wonder if we'll start seeing Franciscan clinics pop in area WalMarts. |

About
Although I have another home on the web I thought it might be nice to lead by example a bit and put this blog system up to the test myself.
So far, so good... Funny how I build web tools for other people that are far better than the one's I have setup over on KFnet.
