Among so many closings it's nice to see an opening. Cue Shanghai House on Commerce just next door to Mad Hat between 11th and 13th. The sign says they're opening Saturday so we'll see if the doors will be indeed open then. I'm always down for more food in downtown but hopefully the location won't hold them back at all. Nice to see this portion of the block opening up a bit though.

Interesting name. Someone should watch and keep a daily tally of the number of customers that enter the front door and then exit from the same door.

this is very good news for downtown. you don't have a downtown unless you have a Chinese restaurant. I was sorry to see Mandarin on Broadway go, but we are back in business now.

I tend to agree. I'm excited to have a new Chinese place to try out. Any interest in getting a FT contingent there to try them out opening day?

I'm interested in trying it on opening day, if the time works out. Can maybe drop into Mad Hat, too, which is a great Saturday stop.

No love today I don't believe unless they're opening for dinner. Stopped by this afternoon and all was quiet. Hope they open it up soon enough.

|Pretty sure it meant today. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Date_and_time_nota...
Delay could have been anything. Soon I hope.

The closure of I-5 near Centralia could have lead to delivery problems, maybe that is it.

[bump] Because I thought they'd know, this morning I asked someone if they knew about the progess and they said they had talked to someone who said the contractor has been very slow, and the opening is probably a few weeks away still. But still happening.

| "...the contractor has been very slow..."
I see. Could that be because of a reduction of crew members?

I have no idea. I was even paraphrasing the brief way it was told to me. But I hope the part about it opening soon is true.

The new date I saw on their window today is 1/31. Anyone game to try 'em out if indeed we confirm they open?

I drove by a few days ago and there appears to be no change. No new opening date, and I couldn't tell if there was any construction going on.

And Tobin next door says they are wonderful folk. Though he vehemently denies the existence of secret tunnels linking Mad Hat to Shanghai House.
Although I have another home on the web I thought it might be nice to lead by example a bit and put this blog system up to the test myself.
So far, so good... Funny how I build web tools for other people that are far better than the one's I have setup over on KFnet.
