Email Subjects Like "cupcake disaster" Can Never Be Good

Chef Reina of hello, cupcake fame sent me an email with just such a subject this morning. Turns out, amidst nearby construction, a light pole was bumped and smashed into the front of their business. Check out the pic she sent:

Here's what she said:

Fortunately, no one was hurt. It happened a little before 6am this morning when a construction truck carrying a big load backed up into the light pole. We don't have any damage inside the shop, just a big mess of glass shards, but the window has been boarded up and a cleaning crew is in right now cleaning all the surfaces. If all goes well, we should be up and running by 10am, so we won't even skip a beat because of this. :)

This is no way to encourage businesses to stay in Tacoma.   ;)

I hope this wasn't the same construction company that sent a crane hurling down 15th and across Pacific almost killing people! That was freaky - it happened right in front of me!

Construction FAIL.

Yikes! Good thing Tacoma Regional CVB did a photo shoot there when we did!

Oh. No.

I am going to have to buy a cupcake today in empathy!

"sir, would you like your cupcake plain or with our special glass shard icing?"

Hey let's start a rumor! MAYBE be this is all part of a carefully orchestrated Cross-Town Cupcake Rivalry. Now, any "construction" going on near the sweet-shops in Proctor?

Wont someone please think of the cupcakes? Can we let construction continue if it puts my cupcake supply in danger???

I am going to flashmob the place in about an hour for a cupcake.

@fredo: It would be hilarious if they made a cupcake flavor to poke fun at the incident!

I agree with Erik --- this cupcake disaster requires major community support! Ummmm.. Kevin... can you pick a cupcake (or 2) up on your way home?

by Emilie has one foot on shore on 11/5/2009 @ 1:16pm
@Kevin: They seem to favor simplicity in naming... how about "lamp-post spice" or "vanilla with glass shards"?

by KevinFreitas on 11/5/2009 @ 1:20pm
@Libby: Done and done!

@Emilie: Perhaps "Disaster Glass Vanilla"?

They do make rock candy in large, clear sheets...

1) Obtain candy
2) hammer time!
3) ?
4) Profit!

this ordinary construction disaster will make my mouth very happy. score.

The city manager is claiming the cup cake shop hit the light post and is thus a danger to the public and will have to be torn down. I'm thinking "Heart of Glass" cupcakes in honor of Blondie and the museum of such things.

Cupcakes are indeed a cool thing, but just not my thing. I don't care for cake in most forms.

Did he died?

Good call, CS. Wonder where was PCS was in all this.
(ToT, I'm finding myself agreeing with you more and more.)

Although I have another home on the web I thought it might be nice to lead by example a bit and put this blog system up to the test myself.

So far, so good... Funny how I build web tools for other people that are far better than the one's I have setup over on KFnet.
