New Years in Tacoma
Next Monday night is New Years Eve and First Night may be just they way to celebrate here in Tacoma. Absent downtown for a couple years this re-appearance promises to be a great night of entertainment and food. A stylish First Night button gets you access to 7 different venues with dozens of music, art, and dance performances to choose from. Acts from Grammy winners to Grant Elementary students will perform. I'm excited that I've been asked to introduce a couple groups performing, too, so stop by to see The Little Brothers at Sanford & Son at 9:30pm and/or Zazou--Zazou at 10:30pm in the Rialto if you also want to see me -- do... not much. I'll say "hi" if you do. Anyway... Nearly 30 local shops and restaurants will also be offering special discounts and some special hours on New Years Eve so long as you display that button (and maybe a little pirate spirit as well). Did I mention the theme is pirates? Jen mentions where related gear can be plundered (or preferably purchased) around town so you can join in the non-Halloween, good excuse to dress up fun!
Midnight will even come together with a fireworks display hosted by KING 5's Rich Marriot. Let's hope his forecast is tons of fun! ;)
Normally I'm not the type to head out on New Years Eve. It's mainly because I don't trust other people to be sober enough not to crash into me on their way home. I also wouldn't blame anyone for staying safe inside to watch various festivities on TV. However, this year I'm happy that driving home will entail only side streets avoiding more dangerous freeway speeds and that I'll be spending it with people from a community I love. The price ain't bad either with buttons only $7 this week ($8 on New Years Eve night).
Nevertheless, I'll offer up a carpooling opportunity with two seats in my car. If any of my friends or the good people that read FeedTacoma would like a ride they can have it. I'm a super safe driver and am perfectly willing to stay sober to get you to and from First Night safe 'n sound. I also urge other folks to do the same in the comments below to help get people out together and show some Tacoma pride.

|Don't forget, the Link will be running until 12:45, so that makes it even easier to get around.
See you there!
Although I have another home on the web I thought it might be nice to lead by example a bit and put this blog system up to the test myself.
So far, so good... Funny how I build web tools for other people that are far better than the one's I have setup over on KFnet.
