I noticed the other day that the little shop with the big, red "Gifts" sign near the corner of 9th and Pacific is empty.
Their windows were always stuffed full of seasonal displays but I personally never went in. Nevertheless, though I certainly didn't help, it's never initially positive to see a newly empty storefront downtown. Here's to hoping something new fills and activates the place soon!

my friend @angrybeef work/s/ed there. they still have a web presence: www.everafterstore.com/tacoma_links_page...That's right, the Ever After Store. Forgot that's what it was called. Only remembered it as "Gifts". Thanks Nathe!

|Well, that's sad. We'd usually pop in at least once a year around Christmas time. They had some great gifts for little girls.|

|Here's hoping someone rips that ugly, gray-painted gravel siding off to restore the original look of that storefront! Judging by its neighbors, it could be really nice under that crap.|

|I totally agree @NSHDscott. That would be such a cool facade to have improved.

|A sad loss, to be sure. Also gone, totally gone, like torn down completely, is Pinch's Deli over at 6th and Sprague. Pinch's will be missed, not so much in its most recent form but because of its Tacoma coffee history.|

|Hey, I'm the guy that worked at Ever After. The main reason why we decided to fold up shop and move completely online: When the Frank Russel building left for Seattle, that was like 1,000 people gone from downtown every day. Our in-store traffic plummeted horribly as soon as they left. It no longer made sense to be paying rent to have a storefront when we were doing most of our business on our website anyway. It's sad (especially now that I don't work across the street from Dorky's anymore), but the storefront was actually a drain on the business. Kevin: you should totally get a SpaceWorks project in there!|

|@angrybeef: Thanks so much for the info and I certainly don't blame them for leaving that space. I do like this SpaceWorks idea and would be happy to fill a space like that with Horns of Destiny rehearsals for all to see and hear. Hmm...
Although I have another home on the web I thought it might be nice to lead by example a bit and put this blog system up to the test myself.
So far, so good... Funny how I build web tools for other people that are far better than the one's I have setup over on KFnet.
