Hey Clear Channel, Clean Up Your Crap! (Part 4)

This is just way too easy. As you can see here's yet another derelict eyesore of a Clear Channel billboard this time spotted on Tacoma Ave.

Aside from the people of Tacoma speaking loud and clear, I urge our planning commission, Mayor, and City Council to clarify our 1997 ordinance requiring removal of non-conforming billboards but also to move immediately to REmove blighted, abandoned billboards like this one and others like the ones mentioned in the comments from yesterday's rusted out example.

But I am as concerned that the grocery store in the picture apparently doesn't sell "quality" groceries anymore.

Because of the billboard moratorium, isn't it illegal for Clear Channel to even touch these billboards right now?

That's actually a good question, I was wondering that myself. I'd have to read through it again but have a day job. Perhaps this weekend... That's a rather minor technicality in the greater issue of them removing non-conforming billboards and our city leaders standing up against allowing any digital ones.

no, they're touching them.

Clear Channel Worker Removing Marsha Moody

Marsha Moody wreck I photographed in front of City Hall yesterday is now a non-profit ad today.

Few landmarks signal that a place is a slum more clearly than blighted billboards.

If we can't take them down I think we should at least be able to do DIY paint jobs.

the only thing preventing citizens from DIY take downs is fear. Just do it!

FYI this one has a new ad on it now.

proof that Clear Channel is still in complete control of their billboards

@Joel -- The one I posted? Yeah, it had a new ad on it the day after this post went up.

I think Marsha Moody went up again by City Hall, this time the north side.

Keeping track of the rotating blight on the billboards is like playing Whack-a-mole at Chuck E. Cheese.

Although I have another home on the web I thought it might be nice to lead by example a bit and put this blog system up to the test myself.

So far, so good... Funny how I build web tools for other people that are far better than the one's I have setup over on KFnet.
