Hey Clear Channel, Clean Up Your Crap! (Part 10)

Barely caught this one on camera as I zoomed by on Pacific Ave. It's a shame such a textured canvas isn't already covered in tags or more artistic graffiti but there it stands. Another example, Madame Mayor and members of the City Council, of Clear Channel's contempt for our city's policies. Please strengthen our sign ordinance, make CC remove non-conforming billboards, and ban digital billboards from Tacoma!

Awesome dedicated work showing the blight right before our eyes than some fail to acknowledge.

Q: It looks as if you are obscuring the number on all of the billboards. Is there a reason for this?

so Olivia won't run out and slap a 'CLICK!' sign on it?

Good article on fights with Clear Channel, etc. around the Sound...

Troubling investigative article in Crosscut published today on digital billboards that are being pushed by the industry:

That helped sell the idea to King County Councilmembers Jane Hague and Larry Phillips, who sponsored the measure. I particularly like the public safety aspects, says Hague. I also like the cost savings for Clear Channel. (For the record, state public-disclosure filings show that Hague and Phillips have been the biggest recipients of Clear Channel campaign donations on the County Council. Since 2003 the company has given Phillips $3,000. Hague has received $3,850 from Clear Channel, its Seattle outdoor operations president, Olivia Lippens, and Lippens' husband.)

How much did Strickland get from Clear Channel? Joe Lonergan?

by jenyum on 6/28/2011 @ 2:27pm
I can't find any evidence that Clear Channel or Jay Ray or any other recognizable advertising entity donated anything to Strickland's campaign for Mayor.

Strickland made what I think is a sincere policy judgment, albeit a mistaken one in my opinion, when she decided the settlement was adequate. She's a good mayor who needs pressure on issues like this. Glad this site and others are there to provide it.

Strickland got $200 from a Clear Channel employee in 2007 some Jay Ray money too.

Clear Channel REALLY loves Rob McKenna

About

Although I have another home on the web I thought it might be nice to lead by example a bit and put this blog system up to the test myself.

So far, so good... Funny how I build web tools for other people that are far better than the one's I have setup over on KFnet.
