Hey Clear Channel, Clean Up Your Crap! (Part 15)
Happy New Year! Clear Channel still doesn't care about Tacoma as you can see with the above blighted billboard example I photographed just the other day. Would you have any company pride whatsoever if your name sat atop something that looks like this? Pathetic.
March 1, 2012 a new fine counter will start a-ticking. Anyone see any of their offending billboards come down yet? Any City Council members out there able to provide us an update?

I think we could easily put in place a rotation of "board-watchers". Volunteers will collapse Evil Corporations!!! |

![]() by jenyum on 1/13/2012 @ 3:05pm | The double one on the house next door to the 7-11 at 6th and Alder continues to sport a rotation of crumbling public service announcements. I need to go take another photo. |

![]() by Erik on 1/14/2012 @ 10:41am | Great documentation Kevin of the blight Tacomans are visually assaulted with each day! We need to make sure that the City of Tacoma enforces the current city ordinance which requires non-conforming billboards to be removed by March 1, 2012...and not sign off on any agreement which would turn off the new fine counter! Btw, the last I heard the matter is still pending in federal court. |
![]() by fredo on 1/14/2012 @ 11:03am | I think what we'll see in March is inaction.
Clear Channel is going to make sure that this stays in the court as long as possible and is appealled from now until the end of time. They will also be calling upon local non-profits who have had free PSAs on the boards for more pressure on the city to loosen up the law on the non-conformings. I wouldn't be surprised if Clear Channel agreed to underwrite the East Side Boys and Girls club program for 2 or 3 years if the city would give up the sign restrictions. These people know how to play hardball and they are going to. |
About
Although I have another home on the web I thought it might be nice to lead by example a bit and put this blog system up to the test myself.
So far, so good... Funny how I build web tools for other people that are far better than the one's I have setup over on KFnet.
