Jen of TacomaMama.com was slated to be on KOMO 1000 radio this morning. She was slated to talk about how her site is working to paint a more positive image of Tacoma prompted partially because of the Foss High shooting last year.
Did KOMO violate one of some secret policy or something because just as Jen was letting the interviewer know that it wasn't just the Foss shooting but also friends that didn't know anything positive about Tacoma from local media a commercial for Sinbad at the EQC just cut in. About 5 commercials came after and no sign of Jen.
Was this an isolated problem with the online audio stream or did she truly get cut off? We've seen this sort of thing before. Thank goodness for local blogs otherwise no one would know anything positive about the City of Destiny.

|Just sent KOMO an email asking for an explanation. We'll see if they come back with anything. Even if they have more commercials or something to help pay for web streaming you think they'd air either none or all of a given segment -- not interrupt it.|

|That's kinda not cool.
I hope it at least came through to people listening on the radio.

|Seriously. You sounded great what little we heard of you.|

A typical South 5 move from Seattle. Tacoma serves little more than a crime blotter news feed for them. Also, she dared to step into the role of media analysis.

|I called and asked what happened. They said it was a technical problem and it did go out on the air, at least :(

|Boo. They should send you a complimentary copy of the interview for you to post.|

Of course. It could not have been anything else. Reminds me of movie scenes where someone who is talking on a cell phone says "your breaking up, I can't hear you...."

|Agreed. I had no idea this was going to be on and would love to hear it. I assume the Feed will keep a close watch on developments to this story.|

|I should probably mention that all this attention seems to have come from a small post on Citizen Rain this morning.

|That's awesome. We should send press releases out to Seattle media re: the Tacoma blog community. There's plenty of experts among us they could surely tap on various issues that would be happy to participate.|

Good idea Kevin.
However, please remember that most of the Seattle media has outsourced their PR operations to:

Here is some additional information from their

The Chamber also plays a supportive and monitoring role on issues essential to our economic competitiveness...

I am sure they can clear up any questions you might have.

|Hey, Jenyum, loved your response on Citizen Rain.|
by jenyum on 1/22/2008 @ 3:54pm
|Thanks, I couldn't help being a little snarky.|

|I have the audio! I put it up here.|

|Yay! Glad I got to hear the whole thing, finally. Very nice job, Jen!|
Although I have another home on the web I thought it might be nice to lead by example a bit and put this blog system up to the test myself.
So far, so good... Funny how I build web tools for other people that are far better than the one's I have setup over on KFnet.
