Malarkey's Taking Shape in City Lights Spot

Though I can say I've never been to City Light's it's apparent change over to Malarkey's is taking shape. The largely empty room visible on the corner of 6th and Tacoma has recently filled up with chairs, tables, a couple plants and a pool table. Could be a cool spot to have a small stage for some live bands imho.

Is this the best spot for pool in town? Did the Winfield's Twisted Cue ever stand a chance? Should Meconi's go back to a non-coin-op table? (sorry, that one frustrates me)

The only change that Ive seen is that the bartender is not very friendly. This space has been like this for awhile I think.. City lights transformed it and they were having some night stuff for a bit

Depends on the bartender. Also, I feel like the bartenders are of the sort that are nice to their regulars, which largely means the crowd that go and sit at the bar.

I've been a few times, and so far the usable portion hasn't really changed for me. Food's the same, beer's the same, and anyway I just go for the pool.

It is probably my favorite pool joint in the city at this point, and only partly because of proximity. I liked it more than Meconi's even when Meconi's was free, simply for variety and upkeep of the tables, room to play, and never needing to concern yourself that someone is waiting in line behind you.

As it is now, I'd never go there as a bar to hang out. It's just never felt that inviting, and I've got other preferred locals. But as a pool hall it's pretty top notch (for an amateur like me).

The area on the corner there was pretty much empty a few months ago and just again filled up last month.

izenmania: Thanks for the perspective on the place. I might have to stop by some time to play some pool.

Has kind of an 80s church youth group lounge look, at least in that picture.

Your church youth group had beer ads on the wall?

That's Tacoma.

About

Although I have another home on the web I thought it might be nice to lead by example a bit and put this blog system up to the test myself.

So far, so good... Funny how I build web tools for other people that are far better than the one's I have setup over on KFnet.
