Meta Books

Books about books?

The new UWT building along Pacific looks like it will soon house some street level retail. Meta Books is the first to post some "coming soon" signage. Should be there in November.

What else might you like to see in the other available retail space that building has to offer? More food? Clothes? Bail bonds?

Anyway. I could see another clothing store there. Something to complement urbanXchange. If you look at the U district in Seattle, there is a cluster of used clothing stores that really help each other out, because people tend to bounce between them.

Also because, as much as I want to support them, I've been in urbanXchange a few times and never seen anything I wanted to buy, so there might be benefit to having something else there.

What I do NOT want to see:
Another coffee shop
Another restaurant (I feel like that strip already has a good spread, and could use some straight retail)

I have difficulty thinking of what I really want to see there, because I've got all the things that I buy pretty much covered. Another CD store wouldn't win me over from Buzzard's, especially since it's right there. A comic shop would be neat, but I have a personal attachment to another one already. Gaming store? I don't know if there's really a market for it, but I would be happy to not have to go to Game Matrix ever again.

Only other thing I can really think of is an independent music gear store. Especially one that is acoustic-focused. I love Sluggo, but they don't have what I'm looking for these days, and I'd really like to stop shopping at Guitar Center. Something along the lines of Pike Place's Lark In The Morning, or a smaller equivalent to Fremont's Dusty Strings.

I think a small convenience store would do well in that area.

@CA -- yea, makes me think Thea's Market should move up there. Slap some 15 or 30 minute parking (or meters) in front to keep drivers moving and you'd have something.

Agreed Kevin. Thea's Market is a bit off the beaten path, and Im not sure if there's enough boat owners and condo/apartment dwellers down there to keep them busy.

Although I have another home on the web I thought it might be nice to lead by example a bit and put this blog system up to the test myself.

So far, so good... Funny how I build web tools for other people that are far better than the one's I have setup over on KFnet.
