More Pics of Toppled Crane

If you haven't already heard of the bummer that happened on the Sounder construction site yesterday here are a few pics I snapped this morning.

I'd say it's tilted a little too much in the wrong direction.

Huh, same angle as the MoG cone.

Hey, at least most of that crew probably gets today off. :D

When I firs read the headline, I was afraid it was the tower crane @ the new UWT library.

Anyone else remember when the tower crane at the Esplanade condos collapsed a few years back?

OK, yeah, crane fell over. Interesting stuff, and I'm glad noone was seriously hurt. But, what captures my attention even more is the billboard in the background of Pic1. It's an ad for Portal 2!! I am so tired of seeing the Portal ads all over town. It launched in April, you'd think things would sort have run their course. Or, are they candidates for being the next "Marsha Moody"? Clean up your crap, ClearChannel!!

Sorry, up too late last nite and up too early this morning makes a girl cranky.

No, I hear ya Cassie. I've noticed those Portal ads still up too. Already bought, played, and enjoyed it and I still totally agree with what you're saying! So, those ads were easily up at the beginning of April so that makes these having been up for over 90 days. Seems like they've gone static/Clear Channel is having problems selling that space. I think they should be required to remove an ad once it's expired rather than just leave it up. Would better reveal just how they're doing.

Maybe they're just waiting for Portal 3, and they'll just slap the new number over the old.

What I wonder is this... if they've obviously demonstrated a problem with both selling space and with maintenance, why do they think they can support digital billboards in addition to the pieces o' visual trash they already have? I envision signs blinking away at me with ads for events that happened six months ago, half the light bulbs burned out, or in the wrong colorway, and the motors belching smoke because they haven't been tuned up in a long time. Either that, or the copper thieves will get to them and they won't light up at all. I vote for option 2 if it comes to pass. Not that I'm condonding crime, per se.

I have to admit, if we're going to be stuck with expired ads, I'm glad its for something that is both innocuous and one of my favorite free-time-fillers. I mean hey, they could have just as easily been ads of a more unsavory nature. Just sayin' ...

Although I have another home on the web I thought it might be nice to lead by example a bit and put this blog system up to the test myself.

So far, so good... Funny how I build web tools for other people that are far better than the one's I have setup over on KFnet.
