Narrows Bridge Toll Hike
Anyone else miss this?

I was just looking at a Good to Go email I received yesterday and saw that tolls are going up to cross our beloved Narrows Bridges. Already? Here's how much a trip from the peninsula will now set you back:
| Vehicle Type | # Axles | Good to Go | Cash |
| Passenger Vehicle | 2 | $2.75 | $4.00 |
| Passenger vehicle with small trailer | 3 | $4.15 | $6.00 |
| Tractor-trailer rig/passenger vehicle with trailer | 4 | $5.50 | $8.00 |
| Tractor with big trailer | 5 | $6.90 | $10.00 |
| Tractor with bigger trailer (6 or more axles) | 6 | $8.25 | $12.00 |
And for anyone that used the customer service center near 56th Street? Yea, that's closed. You have to cross the bridge into Gig Harbor for in-person customer service!
Yea, this is me glad I live/work in the same town. No freeways, bridges, tank-of-gas-every-other-day to worry about. Happy commuting!
by tacomachickadee on 7/1/2008 @ 6:42pm | It's actually gotten pretty decent coverage, most with many many comments. Also taking effect today is the gas tax increase of 1.5 cents ... and no more talking on the cellphone while driving, unless you have a hands-free device, of course. July 1: Gas tax, Narrows Bridge toll up today www.thenewstribune.com/front/topstories/... June 27: (via TNT's political blog) Gas tax goes up 1.5 cents; Narrows Toll is $1 higher and Hands-free cellphone law takes effect. blogs.thenewstribune.com/politics/2008/0... June 24: Commuters say no to $4 gas, yes to bus rides www.thenewstribune.com/front/topphoto/st... June 9: TRAFFIC Q and A: Bridge tolls rising for many reasons www.thenewstribune.com/news/local/story/... May 29: Volcano coverage www.weeklyvolcano.com/2008-05-29/mudroom... May 28: $1 toll increase approved for the new Narrows bridge www.thenewstribune.com/news/local/story/... I feel very lucky that I am able to live and work in the same city, and that I am generally able to take the bus to work. Knock on wood. |
by KevinFreitas on 7/2/2008 @ 4:49pm | Guess us bloggers just don't have to deal with the toll pain all that often to have noticed. Guess that cheap Good to Go pass I have will now be good to go for less trips. Oh well, who needs Gig Harbor anyway?! Oh yea, that VIP theater. <shakyfist> |

AGAIN? We've already paid for it once. We already pay the gas tax to maintain it. How many times do you think we should pay for it? |
by ensie on 7/28/2008 @ 10:18pm | I was going to say the same thing! I'm pretty sure that we currently pay to maintain it. If you have a Good to Go pass you can pay to use the carpool lanes when you aren't carpooling as well. I just downloaded and printed the form for my own GtG pass. |
by AngelaJossy on 7/28/2008 @ 10:35pm | So interesting that you posted this today. Yesterday I was driving along on my way to Ruston when all of a sudden - Woops! I passed my exit and found myself about to cross Narrows bridge. Yep. That mistake cost me $4.00.

Although I have another home on the web I thought it might be nice to lead by example a bit and put this blog system up to the test myself.
So far, so good... Funny how I build web tools for other people that are far better than the one's I have setup over on KFnet.
