Certainly nothing major but a new awning is going up on Broadway in front of a couple businesses there. The new cover extends mostly out from A Wine Shop just next to the graffiti garages there.
The last few weekends while walking around in the evenings I've noticed them open and active which is great for this area of downtown. My question, however, is will the awning have a translucent roof to let light in or will it loom dark over the colorful storefronts there? My hope is for the former. Certainly could be nice to have a bit more rain-free shopping experience in this area for folks strolling about.

|Are they ever going to do something with the sidewalk there?

|This is a good way to prevent someone from the city from putting a tree in front of your business, smart.|

|Notice the awning goes over the street a bit? That isn't legal for a permanent awning is it? I bet this it a cover for sidewalk work.|

|The uprights are also concrete forming tools. It's been a while bit since I sold that stuff -- can't remember the name for them...|

|Does indeed look to be some weather protection for some pretty seriously heavy sidewalk work going on there. Good to see improvements nonetheless!|

|I am digging into my subconscious, but I think they build something like this when they did the sidewalk outside Tully's. There was vaulting below the sidewalk to the adjacent build, and while they were doing "underground" infrastructure work, this allowed them to remove the sidewalk and work from above, lessening the impact to the space below.
That being said, I could be using anal logic.
Although I have another home on the web I thought it might be nice to lead by example a bit and put this blog system up to the test myself.
So far, so good... Funny how I build web tools for other people that are far better than the one's I have setup over on KFnet.
