Is that the corner by RGC? Looks like some creature left a steaming pile of DEUCE fizzle trizzle???

by InvaderPet on 5/21/2012 @ 7:22am
A cone of silence.

by fredo on 5/21/2012 @ 7:38am
The city sent a prevailing wage employee out to place a safety cone near some dog poop so people wouldn't step in it.

Looks like the WashDOT SR16 Nalley Valley project

by L.S.Erhardt on 5/21/2012 @ 4:49pm
One heck of a party happened last night, apparently...

by KevinFreitas on 5/22/2012 @ 6:56am
All very close! The cone is where a public trash bin once stood and, apparently, nearby dog owning residents on Broadway saw fit to still leave their pooch's leavings almost as a memorial to their missing depository.

by scubiedoo on 5/22/2012 @ 7:01am
So YES, it is the corner by RGC and YES, it was a pile of DEUCE fizzle trizzle. What do I win?

by KevinFreitas on 5/22/2012 @ 7:06am
It's actually not a corner but benches along Broadway in front of the new 505 building. So near-ish Rusty & Co. but not quite. But you still win my love and adoration. That cool?

by scubiedoo on 5/22/2012 @ 7:08am
Fair enough. :)

Why did the city remove the trash receptacle. Aren't trash receptacles an integral part of the "complete street" movement?

by The Jinxmedic on 5/22/2012 @ 10:47am
Trash receptacles have been replaced by rain gardens, which serve the same purpose- but are more ecologically sound. Didn't you get the memo?

by KevinFreitas on 5/22/2012 @ 11:05am
Not sure @fredo. The cone's no longer there and I can see where the four bolts holding it down are still visible but cleanly cut off at or slightly below sidewalk level. Not sure if it was requested it be removed by local residents or if it was stolen for some reason (scrap metal?). Any City-types have a beat on this?

High tech virtual trash bins

by KevinFreitas on 5/22/2012 @ 11:14am
Heh, I might like dogs better if they pooped high tech virtual dung. :)

by The Jinxmedic on 5/22/2012 @ 11:22am
You must simply feed them the appropriate electronic parts and see what comes out.

by Jesse on 5/22/2012 @ 11:36am
Can we also guess what drug the thief is taking that's stealing the gutter work off of the north tower, west side of Old City Hall? Anyone else notice this?

by KevinFreitas on 5/22/2012 @ 11:39am
Oh jeez, I hadn't noticed that. Will have a gander on my ride home tonight!

by Jesse on 5/22/2012 @ 11:42am
Crazy huh? Some people...

by The Jinxmedic on 5/22/2012 @ 12:09pm
Well, they already got all the wiring from McKinley Park's new street lights...

by NineInchNachos on 5/22/2012 @ 1:04pm
take the billboards! they're all copper!

by L.S.Erhardt on 5/22/2012 @ 1:09pm
What if it's a conspiracy, and the City is having it's people covertly "stealing" the metals and scrapping them to help make the budget?

Is the COT cannibalizing itself?

by NineInchNachos on 5/22/2012 @ 1:18pm

by The Jinxmedic on 5/22/2012 @ 1:36pm
Don't you mean the kala kala?

by fredo on 5/22/2012 @ 1:57pm
Now we can see the problem with undertaking a "complete street" strategy. All the expensive furnishings are just scrap metal in the eyes of all the tweekers out there. That missing garbage can was probably a $500 budget item at one time.

by Jesse on 5/22/2012 @ 2:52pm
You can see the missing gutters on OCH from Kevin's webcam. They're gone from the highest peak on the north side of the building -- the west side of that small (one story?) tower.

by cisserosmiley on 5/22/2012 @ 2:53pm
Are you suggesting we airlift the kala kala to the spanaway walmart and let tweakers scrap it piece by piece?

by The Jinxmedic on 5/22/2012 @ 3:42pm
No, I am suggesting that we move the new (once built) Tacoma Wal-Mart to the parking lot of the Spanaway Wal-Mart and then let the tweakers scrap IT piece by piece...

by KevinFreitas on 5/22/2012 @ 6:26pm
Here's a pic I snapped tonight of the missing bit of copper from Old City Hall:

Here's a little timeline I piece together using recent shots from our downtown Tacoma webcam:

Admit it Tacoma, you're beautiful!

by L.S.Erhardt on 5/22/2012 @ 10:40pm
It'd be interesting to use a camera obscura to take one of those super-long 5 year exposure photos.

Hell, even year-long time lapse with a photo taken daily at the same time (NOT adjusted for daylight savings) would be awesome.

Although I have another home on the web I thought it might be nice to lead by example a bit and put this blog system up to the test myself.

So far, so good... Funny how I build web tools for other people that are far better than the one's I have setup over on KFnet.
