Photos ~ Inaugural F>>T Bike Club Ride

Just got back from an afternoon ride of the F>>T Bike Club. Izenman started a chat about it here and today was the day to head out. Weather was cool and I thought perfect for the occasion. A group started at 21st and Alder while Michael and I met them near our places at 33rd and Stevens. We wound along back streets toward Point Defiance Park separating into a group each for more and less experienced riders. Funny thing tho, I believe the less experienced/less in shape riders such as myself beat the others to the pagoda. ;)

From there we had a leisurely and slightly butt-kicking ride along 5 Mile Drive. Just after the turn down to Owen Beach was the worst hill that wasn't steep but instead pretty lengthy. We stopped for plenty of rests and even attempted to have a gander at a humpback whale that is hanging out in the nearby waters of the Puget Sound (see my fabulous pic below). After shooting down the last couple hills near the entrance to the Zoo, we chilled with a chilled glass or two of Mac 'n Jacks, good conversation, and even a bit of pool at the Goldfish Tavern.

Thanks again Izenman for the idea and it was great to riding with y'all (guess I hung with Dawn too long this afternoon).

Thanks for organizing the ride, Izen. It was really nice. And thank you to everyone who bought the booze and the Goldfish. And last, but not least, thank you for the crappy game of pool, Fritos.

Did you notice that we all seemed to have organize ourselves, grade school group picture day fashion, by height? I guess somethings creep into the subconcious and never leave...

I like how in the group picture, everyone is either smiling or posing or something, and I am standing there like a doofus looking half-asleep...

Hey dawntown:

We subliminally arranged ourselves to mimic the cable span dip of the Narrows Bridges behind us. Look at the top of our helmets then the bridge behind. Some kind of cosmic alignment going on here...didn't Kev just finish talking about bridge lights before taking pic? Spoooky.

Dawn, I couldn't figure out why that shot looked so good -- must be the height symmetry. And, Joe, we all know you aren't a doofus :)

I really enjoyed the ride and the conversation. It was great to meet all of you. Thanks, Joe, for organizing us. I'm looking forward to the next ride in 3 weeks. If you need any help with route ideas when we get closer to the time, I'd be happy to throw a few into the hat.

About

Although I have another home on the web I thought it might be nice to lead by example a bit and put this blog system up to the test myself.

So far, so good... Funny how I build web tools for other people that are far better than the one's I have setup over on KFnet.
