Sweet Things No More, Jubilee Instead

Not sure what's going on in the world of cupcakes here in town but it appears Sweet Things Cupcakes is no more. In it's Proctor place, Jubilee Cupcakes & Vintage Candy. Last time I was in for a sweet treat the place was cleared of its couture clothes and accessories so perhaps the change to add candy is also going along with the new name and branding. Same owners? Sounds like it according to Spew and the cupcake flavors like s'more and hummingbird that I've come to love seem leftover from Sweet Things' menu.

Whatever the case, welcome to the Proctor neighborhood's newest(?) business.

Here's the full press release:

Jubilee Cupcakes & Vintage Candy announces the grand opening of their store on July 23, 2010. Located in the heart of Tacoma's Proctor District, Jubilee is dedicated to being the premier cupcake bakery in the Northwest. Specializing in small-batch, scratch-baked gourmet cupcakes created on site, Jubilee will serve the north Tacoma neighborhood and become a South Sound staple by using local, fresh ingredients including hormone-free dairy and eggs from area farms, fruit from community farmers' markets, Valhalla coffees, and Mad Hat Tea blends.
Jubilee's back-to-basics approach means that all cupcakes, buttercreams, chocolate and caramel sauces, various ganaches, meringues, lemon curd and marshmallows used in Jubilee cupcakes (and espresso drinks) are homemade from their own recipes and perfected over decades.
Along with more traditional flavors, Jubilee's menu includes rotating flavors such as the S'more cupcake (Valrhona dark chocolate baked with organic graham crackers and bittersweet chocolate topped with traditional toasted Swiss meringue and a drizzle of homemade bittersweet chocolate sauce), the Pink Champagne cupcake (champagne infused cake brushed with champagne, topped with strawberry buttercream and sugar pearls), and the Chocolate Maple Bacon cupcake (Valrhona dark chocolate cake baked with maple bacon and topped with a maple buttercream and piece of homemade maple bacon).
Jubilee also includes a collection of seasonal cupcakes. For the grand opening, the featured flavor is a Chocolate Raspberry Cupcake that features Valrhona dark chocolate cake filled with a chocolate raspberry ganache, topped with raspberry buttercream and a market-fresh berry.

Along with cupcakes, Jubilee is proud to offer a wide assortment of hard-to-find vintage candy from Hammond's Candies, including old-fashioned lollipops, ribbon candy, and hand-pulled taffy. The store also offers cupcake accessories, party supplies, and greeting cards.
Jubilee is available for catering special events of all sizes, and offers customization of cupcakes for any occasion.

Although I have another home on the web I thought it might be nice to lead by example a bit and put this blog system up to the test myself.

So far, so good... Funny how I build web tools for other people that are far better than the one's I have setup over on KFnet.
