Two Groceries Slated for Downtown?

This would be pure awesome for Tacoma! Will I reserve all my excitement until this actually becomes a reality? Probably. From the Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce:

One grocer is preparing to stake out territory on the ground floor of Pacific Plaza, a shiny new mixed-use project. Grace Pleasants, who wants to develop a project up the street, hopes to lure a second grocer to her mixed-use project, which includes turning the landmark Elks Temple...

The Pacific Plaza location doesn't make much sense to me. If I had money to bet on pointless betting I'd bet a grocer next to the Elks will be first to the game.

You'd think this post would have generated way more excitement.

Crenshaw, as soon as I find out how much the taxpayers are going to be on the hook for there will be some more excitement from my perspective.

I'm sure the tax payers will be bailing out this project for years to come.

@Crenshaw: I think it would've been a popular post two years ago but, like me, many are jaded to the prospect of a downtown grocery store. I'll definitely believe it when I see it.

I'll just be excited to see the McMenamins actually happen.

Jaded by the poor economy and 3 big half-finished buildings, I am.

It was the "top click of the week," so lots of people seem to have read it -- there's just not that much to discuss until somebody makes a firmer commitment.

Other good grocery news: the Tacoma Food Co-op is likely to occupy the entire Sixth Ave Neighborhood Market. Not sure what the timeline is, but it's nice to see them making progress.

There's been a zillion grocery store rumors since I've been following this site and Exit133.

Next!

Nice.

About

Although I have another home on the web I thought it might be nice to lead by example a bit and put this blog system up to the test myself.

So far, so good... Funny how I build web tools for other people that are far better than the one's I have setup over on KFnet.
